James Harrison, Troy Polamalu expected to miss another game

Troy Polamalu, James Harrison AP

Steelers linebacker James Harrison and safety Troy Polamalu are expected to miss Sunday’s game against the Raiders.

Neither Polamalu nor Harrison practiced today, and Alan Robinson of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that their chances of playing Sunday don’t look good.

Harrison has been on the shelf since training camp with a knee injury, while Polamalu suffered a calf injury in Week One that led him to be sidelined in Week Two.

The Steelers have their bye in Week Four, so the plan may be to keep them out of action on Sunday in Oakland and get them ready to go for Week Five.

The Steelers age is coming more and more apparent. After watching last Sunday’s game they are still as physical as ever. You can ask Rex Ryan all about that

I don’t think it will matter. Greg Knapp has taken care of any offensive threats. He makes McFadden run sideline to sideline like a linebacker. It’s sad cause I’m longtime raider fan.

No team in the nfl can afford to miss 2 pro bowlers and win.. Ladies and gentlemen this is the only team that consistently does it! Every year we just next man up. Steeler pride. Ohh yaa its deep. You wouldnt understand!

Also that look in Harrison’s eyes as he’s hugging Troy is a bit unsettling.

Unfortunately, they could sit half their team and still beat the Raiders. *sigh*

I think this is a smart move to sit them down even if they could potentially tough it out. Keep them out, let them utilize the BYE week to the full advantage, then destroy everyone.

Resting two key guys before a bye week is the best action. The Raiders have looked less than intimidating so far but it’s the NFL (ask the Patriots and Saints).

I’m looking forward to watching a close game.

Will somebody please tell the costumed fans in Oakland that the team name is in reference to pirates. You know…sailors, swords, bottle o’rum and eye patches. I’ve yet to understand why these people dress like rejects from the Mad Max/Road Warrior films.

But theyre being paid as of theyre in the prime and contributing players. Management probably wishes they didn’t restructure those contracts. Oh well

Mendenhall and DeCastro are hurt too – is that a result of age?

No that’s a result of poor drafting and softness.

Maybe if the Raiders had played better last week or at least looked like a good NFL team … Harrison and Troy would have played.

I see some pretty silly looking fans in every stadium, dressed in all manner of idiocy. They pay their money and have their fun. Why should anyone care?
