LaRon Landry misses practice for Jets

The Jets got one member of their secondary back at practice on Thursday when Darrelle Revis was cleared to practice fully for the first time since suffering a concussion.

Revis returned just in time to watch another defensive back miss practice because of a heel injury. Safety LaRon Landry didn’t practice for the Jets, a new injury because Landry was a full participant on Wednesday.

Landry has a history of Achilles issues, something that troubled the Jets enough to write protections into his contract in the event of a prolonged absence for the safety. That could mean that today’s absence was precautionary as much as it was due to an injury that will threaten his availability come Sunday since it is the third Thursday in a row that Landry has sat out. Landry had a strong opener against Buffalo, but committed two personal fouls in the loss to the Steelers that helped set up Pittsburgh scores.

There was better news elsewhere for the Jets. Tight end Dustin Keller, who missed the Pittsburgh game along with Revis, was a limited participant in practice after missing it entirely on Wednesday and Eric Smith, who would likely be the starter if Landry can’t go, was also able to get back on the field. Cornerback Ellis Lankster didn’t practice, which could complicate matters for the Jets if Revis turns out to be unable to play against the Dolphins.
