It’s unfair to hold Johnson hostage and refuse to suspend him until he is signed. Unsigned players can serve suspensions while unsigned.

Great! He never won a playoff game during that stretch and will forever be remembered as a clown that wasted the talent he was blessed with. The personal accolades that you list are meaningless in a team game.

By your way of thinking, they’re a lot of guys that shouldn’t be in the HOF then. Guys like Barry Sanders and Dan Marino. I think it’s a little ridiculous for people like you to completely ignore personal accomplishments. IT is a team game, therefor one can only be as good as his team. Unfortunately for Chad the cards he was dealt was the Cincinnati Bengals. I think he played his hand pretty well considering.

I actually miss the who can cover 85 chart he used to keep. I also found it funny when he sent the DBs for my Browns a care package of pepto bismol because they were going to be sick of trying to cover him.

IIRC they did pretty well shut him down that time, and the Browns actually won the game. It was one of many times Chad talked the talk and didn’t walk the walk. Funny how he had little to say in situations like that.

As my high school’s football coach used to tell mouthy players, “If you’re better, shut up and prove it; if you’re not, just shut up because you’ve got nothing to say.” Or as Mike Brown’s daddy Paul used to say about end zone celebrations, “Act like you’ve been there before.”

Actions have consequences and he’s going to really feel it this time. Odds of anybody being so interested they’d sign him in midseason knowing it’d be a few games prior to his being able to play are nil.

Seriously, If I could have any receiver in his prime I would be hard to trade Chad 2002-2006. Four Consecutive AFC Receiving Titles. From 2002-2006 there was only one NFC Winner in the SB. The AFC was the tougher Conference & Chad won the receiving title EVERY YEAR in the AFC. That’s pretty damn impressive.

They should simply suspend him for 3 games so teams know about it. Hopefully, no one signs him and his career is over. Chad has been nothing but a headache for the NFL.

It’s really not right how the NFL does these suspensions of unemployed players.

If the fact that the player is facing a possible suspension is enough to keep a team from giving him a shot then the suspension can be indefinite and possibly career ending, as may be the case with Johnson.

They should just suspend him and that would prevent a team from signing him as is intended and then when its up he is free to sign with any team.

If they think suspending an unemployed player is not enough of a punishment then add a few more games than you normaly would have.

I don’t think Chad needs any more lessons to be taught to him, so hopefully School Master Goodell would skip a suspension and let the poor guy play on the off chance that another team gives him a shot.

The league should remember that he committed the offence while he was a member of an orgainization, and that it probably had something to do with him being released. (Something with, not picking up the plays probably had something to do with it too.) Anyway he should be able to serve his supension now if he has one.
