Dallas promotes Orie Lemon to active roster

Mario Butler, Orie Lemon AP

The Cowboys shuffled the bottom of their roster Saturday, promoting linebacker Orie Lemon from the practice squad and cutting cornerback Mario Butler, according to Carlos Mendez of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Lemon was released in final cuts this year, after playing well on special teams in the preseason. The Oklahoma State product spent last year on the Cowboys practice squad, as did Butler.

Lemon will likely have a role on special teams tomorrow against the Buccaneers.

Hey As long as the special teams doesn’t give away 10 points in the first five minutes again I don’t care who goes in there.

LB Alex Albright is out with an injury which gives Lemon a chance. Lemon had a pick six in a preseason game and just barely missed making the active roster. Should do a good job for them.
