If I REALLY need a cop bad enough to call one chances are you will get there in time to ask questions about what happened and that’s it. People who wait on cops to do any of the things you mentioned are fools. Not because cops are unwilling, but because you usually can’t wait for them to be the ones to fix the situation. If I ever call a cop you’d better bring a coroner with you and I say that with full understanding that I might be the one getting carried away.

Nesuperfan makes a point thats very true. the founding fathers designed the justice system so thet the most powerfull lerson in the process was a citezen of our united states, YOU! THE JUROR. this has been a used by judges,lawyers,politicians and COPS by simply not telling the truth in a court if law. ITs true, YOU as the juror is made to believe that cops are more honest than your fellow citizen and thus the JUROR can be manipulated. WE THE PEOPLE must always be aware of those in positions to abuse. We just cant forget our rights as citizens of this united states of america.

Police officers are correctly held to a higher standard, even while off duty. It’ll be interesting to see whether any or all of these three are punished now that this story has made national headlines. We need police officers in society, but with the higher threshold for public decency, I bet these cops get theirs.

i agree that the vast majority of cops are good people. however i was pulled over by an ohio stae trooper, or should i say kid. he looked like he was fresh out of the academy. he kept me pulled over for 40 minutes and wanted to know my life story. where was i coming from. seeing my girlfriend. he wanted to my life story and hers etc. after everything he let me go with a warning for driving 2 m.p.h. over the speed limit on the interstate. wow, what a great guy!

This would be funny, if it were not tragic.

From today’s news: “A Houston police officer shot and killed a one-armed, one-legged man in a wheelchair Saturday inside a group home after police say the double amputee threatened the officer and aggressively waved a metal object that turned out to be a pen.”

Clearly, a real tough guy.

Let’s also not forget the two recent shootings in NYC. Yeah right, I trust the cops.

Police Officers are held to a higher standard. If this happened then they should he held responsible for their behavior. Especially the female officer. She threatened him by saying she would violate his constitutional rights if he was caught driving in her jurisdiction. Being off duty is no excuse. They represent the city and I am sure the citizens of that city would not accept that behavior. Not all police officers behave this way. So painting a broad brush isn’t fair either.

ok just read the article from seattle news paper. Those cops would have been in trouble if that happened to me. I would not of put up with this crap especially if they insulted me in front of my kid. I would of taken matters into my own hands right or wrong.

Another lame argument is always, “if you don’t like it, why don’t you do the job?”

Because you start as a nobody, and we are smart enough not to want to work for morons and jerks. If we could fire every one of you, disband all police unions, and make sure that you don’t come back, sure, this vet would gladly take the job. Even the military does not have as many guys with attitudes as the cops.

Another major problem I have with cops and the court system: Cops lie in court all the time, but their word is taken as gospel (I am thinking about a local case that was in the news, but there have been tons of similar examples I have seen over the years). Who in their right mind would trust the word of a cop at this point? They band together, and protect each other..at any cost.

There is no excuse for these police officers’ behavior. And the female officer should at least be suspended, if not fired for using her position of authority to threaten someone.
Many officers do come across as jerks. However, I know some of you are basing your opinions on run-in’s with the law.
You can talk as much smack as you want, but if someone is: breaking into your home; assaulting you; raping your wife…. you will call 911 and pray the police officers get there fast.
There’s a reason alot of officers aren’t all warm and fuzzy. They dont get paid _ _ _ _ and many have to work second jobs. 99% of the time, they see people at their worst. They get cussed out; spit on; puked on. Oh, and sometimes people try to kill them. They deal with horrific car crashes; children who are abused worse than Mike Vick’s pit bulls; rape victims; and other horrors most of you can only imagine because you’ve seen it on “Law and Order” or “CSI.” Police officers see things that give them nightmares and haunt them the rest of their lives.
Every time they make a traffic stop, they know that some low life may try to blow them away. Almost every decision they make has serious consequences…not just for themselves, but for their fellow officers, and the public.
When a police officer says goodbye to their family and leaves for work, he/she knows there’s a chance that will be their last time to kiss their spouce and hug their children.
As I said before, there’s no excuse for those officers’ behavior. But stop and try to imagine what it’s like to be a police officer, and maybe even have a little gratitude for them.

I am a police officer with 22 years on the job. I stopped going to sporting events (and concerts) because of idiots like these three. If this is a true account of what happened, all three should be fired, or suspended for a while. They give all of us good ones a bad name…

Police should always be held to a higher standard. I’m not sure if they should be fired for not being able to handle their alcohol, but I say hit em where it hurts…. Strip them of their pensions and put them at a desk until they quit and face real life in the private sector.

I spent 30 years in public service (Firefighter). In those 30 years I never went to bars, concerts, football games, events of any kind and drank to excess or at all. To do so was inviting trouble and it wasnt worth it. I was taught that you are a Public Official 24/7/365. I wore my uniform with pride, and hoped the public felt the same about me. This behavior is inexcusable and should be delt with with extreme punishment. As I did, these individuals took an oath to uphold the law and abide by the Rules and Regulations of their job. This sickens me….

Stupid cops are managed by even Stupider managing Commanders.

Good cops don’t exist anymore, just a bunch of power hungry traffic enforcement a-holes. If cops want a good impression with the community, these three need to be fired. Cops can’t run around doing dumb things without facing repercussions. But my guess is that their commanding officer will just defend them and give them a week of desk work.
