Once upon a time, long before the NFL rulebook was rewritten to encourage passing, John Unitas threw at least one touchdown pass in 47 straight games.

Somehow, that record has endured through the modern era of the game. In two weeks, on Sunday Night Football, it likely will fall.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees got to 46 in the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Chiefs, on a nine-yard pass to Lance Moore.

The Saints currently lead, 10-3.
