Collie will play, won’t start; Freeney still out for Colts

Colts wide receiver Austin Collie has satisfied the doctors that he’s well enough to play, but he’s apparently not ready to start.

Collie’s active for today’s game against the Jaguars, his first of the season. According to Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star, Donnie Avery will start opposite Reggie Wayne.

Collie hasn’t played this year because of concussion symptoms, and there was a thought earlier in the week he’d stay out with the bye week coming up.

The Colts are also without outside linebacker Dwight Freeney (ankle), which is good news for Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert, who’s still playing without a pair of starters on his offensive line. The hope is that Freeney will be ready to return after the bye.
