Getty ImagesIf you were hesitant to consider the Falcons among the league’s best teams, I’m not sure how much more they could have shown you today.
Atlanta dismantled the Chargers 27-3 on the road, staying perfect at 3-0.
Matt Ryan threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns, and the opportunistic Falcons defense picked off Philip Rivers twice and recovered a pair of fumbles. They have 11 takeaways in three games.
The last time the Falcons started 3-0 was 2004, when they made it to the NFC Championship Game before losing to the Eagles.
And with their next three at home against the Panthers, at the Redskins and then back home against the Raiders, it’s not too soon to start wondering how long this streak could go.
As for the Chargers, they’re still 2-1, but there’s a much different vibe than before. They appear to be without weapons in the passing game, and have protection problems.

Boo-yah!
As a Charger fan, all I can say is, The Chargers are who we thought they were.
These officials continue to put players at risk. Anyone see that huge head to head hit against Raiders WR and NO CALL? Violated two rules (head to head and defensless). Just ridiculous. They have been missing pass interference and holding etc, but THIS? Come on man…
Glad we are in the division we are!
Why no stories yet about the Saints* losing yet again?
Can my Falcons finally get some credit for their defense. Eleven turnovers in three games.
Falcons vs Texans – Super Bowl 2013
Matt Ryan is the real deal. This will be a tough team to beat going forward. A huge road win.
Atlanta killed it… And the Chargers bled out from shooting themselves in the foot (over & over).
2-1 still isn’t a bad start for us, but I was really hoping for 3-0.
The Falcons will be in the NFC Championship.
Still not impressed. The Bolts were due to sleep walk through a game.

We’ll see about all that December 16.
I’ll be impressed when they win a play-off game. The division is there for the taking, though…. Buc’s defense is better than expected, but their offense stinks! Brees is promising the Saints will somehow turn things around from this bad (but not unexpected) 0-3 start. The Panthers QB is in the dreaded “sophmore slump” and doing his best Jay Cutler sulking impression. So, things are looking pretty good for the Falcons
The Chargers, soft as a baby’s bottom.
The Chargers got Norved again. He is absolutely the worst coach in the NFL. Guaranteed the Chargers won’t make the playoffs again and this time Norv will be fired.
Gates still runs like he has a load in his pants.
It’s good that we were blacked out. We really don’t want any national audience to see that disaster
Chargers were terrible on every front today.
Good thing Manning still sucks!!
