Getty ImagesThe Cowboys and Buccaneers are playing a punishing game, with both defenses making their share of plays.
But both defenses are also misisng players.
The secondary-thin Cowboys lost safety Barry Church to a leg injury, and it was announced that he would not return. And Bucs defensive end Adrian Clayborn was just carted off with an apparent knee injury.
That said, it could have been much worse.
Bucs defensive tackle Gerald McCoy just crushed Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, getting away with a helmet-to-helmet shot which should have been penalized.
After the Kevin Ogletree banana peel act earlier in the game, it’s not a good outing for the replacement refs.

Going to be interesting to see how either side handles a kneel down toward the end of the game.
Wow these ref are ridiculous that helmet to helmet on Romo was unbelievably easy to see. I am 19 college student and have more football knowledge than these refs. It’s coming to the point where it’s game changing……
Worst offense and worst officiating I’ve seen.
Bucs D has been playing great…offense is probably as bad as I’ve seen in recent memory.
Not a good outing is an understatement. They’ve cost the Bucs a touchdown on the non fumble.
Bucs offense was pathetic. But the officials blew a call that should have been a TD for TB.
Refs also cost the Cowboys a sure TD when some fool decided to throw his hat FOR NO APPARENT REASON right into Ogletree’s path. I’m willing to call it bad luck but WHY did the ref toss his hat into the field of play in the first place?
Also, looks like it’s ok to just tee off on Cowboys players this season. That McCoy head shot on Romo should have drawn a flag.
They cost the Cowboys a touchdown, too!! Why did the ef throw his hat in the endzone that Ogletree slipped on?? Nobody ran out of bounds!! Pure bullsquash!!
One way to counter the firing on a kneel-down is to keep trying to score. Can’t really gripe about the other guys running up the score if you’re going to do that.
