Randy Moss’ return to Minnesota resulted in three catches and a 24-13 loss and the former Vikings star wasn’t on the field for much of it.
Moss remained a bit player in the 49ers offense on Sunday, although he was targeted six times over the course of the game. He had those three catches, dropped one and had another sail over his head when he was open in the end zone. He was asked after the game about the amount of snaps he saw on offense. He gave the same answer that he gave when asked a similar question earlier this week.
“Next question,” Moss said, via Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee.
Moss did answer other questions, though. He complimented Minnesota’s play and thanked the fans for “the love that they give” before saying the 49ers had to start getting ready for the Jets. That doesn’t sound like his evasion of questions about his playing time represents a real dissatisfaction with the 49ers, although that doesn’t mean that they might not want to see what a little more playing time brings
Quarterback Alex Smith, who said that the two players need to get better chemistry, didn’t have a completion longer than 22 yards on Sunday. The lack of big plays hurt the 49ers, so they might want to see if Moss can bring a few of them to the field going forward.
