APRavens receiver Torrey Smith plans to play tonight after spending most of the day grieving the loss of his younger brother in a motorcycle accident.
Smith left the team hotel at about 2 a.m. today when he was informed that his younger brother, Tevin, had died. But ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio reports that Torrey Smith is at the stadium and planning to play tonight against the Patriots.
Smith wrote about his grief on Twitter this morning.
“I can’t believe my little brother is gone…be thankful for your loved ones and tell them you love them…this is the hardest thing ever,” Smith wrote. “I can’t say a bad thing about him…proud to have him as a brother…RIP Tevin.”

The guy has massive heart. I hope he has a hell of a game.
Didn’t Ed Reed’s brother die the night before a Baltimore/NE game too?
God. Family. Team.
All of our hearts will be there with Torrey and his family tonight.
Best of luck Torrey, you are one of the classiest players in the game. Raven nation sends it thoughts and prayers to you.
Who puts the down arrows on these comments? Seriously people…have some manners.
When clicking the thumbs up or thumbs down on a smart phone, it’s pretty easy to accidentally click the wrong one, as they’re so damned small.
But there are people that aren’t very Christian that don’t believe in praying for those grieving or dead.
So one never knows.
Everybody grieves in their own way – I hope the Smith family can somehow push through this death. …and if this helps Torrey feel better momentarily – then more power to him.
Here’s to smith pulling a favre and lighting up the game.
