APThe 49ers lost a game today, and they may have lost one of their best defensive players, for at least a while.
Linebacker Patrick Willis has an ankle injury. X-rays are coming, per a source with knowledge of the situation.
We’ll provide further info as we get it.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
That would be a MAJOR loss. Hope he is OK.
BEST MIDDLE LINEBACKER IN FOOTBALL. Would be a shame to see him go down.
Hope Willis is ok,guy is a monster. Sucks for all of us when great players go down,,
Hope it’s nothing serious. The injury came in garbage time. Losing Willis would be a big loss.
Too bad. Next man up. The Champs plug and play and keep it moving. Let’s see what this team is made of, since pundits keep trying to say they’re better than the Champs.
Can’t believe niners lost this game. I would be completely embarrassed. The viks are awful. Will be lucky to win your division.
I hope he’s alright. What’s really sad is how much the Niner haters on this site probably want Willis to be hurt.
This week at work is gonna SUCK!!
I HATE THIS FEELING!!! DAMN YOU VIKINGS!!!
oh well, NEXT MAN UP. too bad but nothing different from what the GMEN have dealt with more than any other team.
let’s see what you’re made of….
It’s sad that he got hurt, but what’s really sad are the 49er fans on this site act like they’ve actually done something noteworthy in the last 15 years.
Sucks to see this happen. Happened after refs and Gerhart give 9ers a third chance. Hope it’s nothing major. Skol.
This is terrible news for the 49ers, but no one forget, Patrick Willis got hurt last year in the middle of the season as well, and Larry Grant stepped up and played phenomenal with Willis out. In fact, it was Grant who pretty much single-handedly won that second Seahawks game last year when he forced that fumble. Sure, this only adds to the disappointment of losing today, but hopefully he’s not out too long. Every team goes through injuries, it’s whether or not they can play through them that shows the good from the great. By the way, hats off to the Vikings on a heck of a game. Funny, the Vikings offense showed how to beat the 49ers great defense while the “top” offenses in the NFC North got exposed by San Fran.
It evens things out as they Jets and SF play against each other next week without their best defensive players.
About time the 49ers get a major injury. It was a fluke how they suffered virtually no injuries last season.
Larry Grant did a great job last year in lieu of Willis. Certainly Willis will be missed however Grant did a great job and he knows “next man” up!
Great job by the Vikings. They beat the Niners in every phase of the game. Hopefully Patrick is ok. Good job by the Cardinals as well.
Go Niners!
ps. @MrWright, are you infatuated with the Niners, bro? You are on every Niners article.

I comment on everything. But since they want every third article to be about SF being better than the GIants, I’m going to comment.

SF will miss Willis a LOT more than the Jetswill miss Revis.
Mr. Wright sure sounds jealous
After being at that game, all I could think was geez those 49er LBs are good. Hope he’s not out for long, but he seemed to be moving around pretty good during the post-game handshakes.

Both Isaac Sopoaga and Patrick Willis were walking with no difficulty after the game. Harbaugh did not have any details on their injuries.

Comedy.
Of what? We beat you. We won the Super Bowl last year. Not SF. What’s there to be jealous about LMAO
Vikings outplayed the niners. We just barely lost a half dozen games last year. Remember a few years back when that was your team niners fans, and we were the playoff team? That’s what a young team on the rise looks like. You should recognize that.
