Targets for Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s passes are dropping quickly.

Tight end Aaron Hernandez is out indefinitely with an ankle injury and wide receiver Julian Edelman left Sunday night’s loss to the Ravens with a hand injury. On Tuesday, coach Bill Belichick said that Edelman’s injury is being evaluated and the team needed to see what Edelman can do in practice on Wednesday before they have an idea of whether or not he’ll miss any games as a result.

“We’ll give you more information on that tomorrow and see what he’s able to do out there in practice,” Belichick said, via ESPNBoston.com. “They’re evaluating the hand, taking a look at it, and trying to determine what the nature of the injury is and how -- or even to the extent that it is injured. We’ll see where that is and take a look at it tomorrow and what he’s able to do out there.”

Edelman had moved in front of Wes Welker at the start of the season because the team felt he was a better fit as an outside receiver in the one back/two tight end/two receiver formation that had become their base package. Since Hernandez’s injury, Welker has been on the field more often and he had eight catches for 142 yards against the Ravens. If Edelman is out, Welker should see even more time against the Bills this Sunday.
