Bears running back Matt Forte is expected to miss Monday night’s game against the Cowboys as he continues to recover from a sprained ankle, and the Bears are looking for help at the position.

Ryan Grant was in the Bears’ locker room when he got a call on Tuesday telling him he had an offer from the Redskins -- an offer he accepted, meaning the Bears would have to look elsewhere.

The Bears also worked out running back Jacob Hester on Tuesday, the Chicago Tribune reports. Last week the Bears worked out running backs Steve Slaton and DuJuan Harris.

There’s no word yet on when the Bears expect to have Forte back from the ankle injury he suffered two weeks ago against the Packers. The Bears have said he’s making progress, and coach Lovie Smith says the injury is not the dreaded high ankle sprain. But Forte’s return date hasn’t been set.
