You ever get $5 tacked on for forgetting to pay a parking ticket? You wish you'd paid it and saved the $5, write the check, then move on.

That's what this is to Belichick. He shouldn't have grabbed his arm, but he was deservedly frustrated and did. He got the standard fine, he's accepting it, he apologized, and is moving on.

Nothing to do with Camera Hunt. Not an evaluation of his skills as a coach. Not a story. Move on.

No I personally do not like BB, but do I think he is an outstanding coach? Absolutely. Spygate means nothing to me, I don't think it helped them win substantially more, and I'm a Broncos fan. His approach to the official was inappropriate, but I don't believe it was done with any kind of malice. In short, it was nothing major.

He's an unprofessional and unethical head coach who should know better - nothing less than a $100k fine and a six game suspension should have been given to him.
The rule about contact with officials is because you have to spell everything out for the knuckleheads out there. This was not one of those cases. The guy was just trying to get the officials attention, and justifiably so. He got fined $50k because he is Bill Belichick and it's The Patriots, and they win a lot, and the babies of the NFL clientele, and there are a lot of them, must be appeased. However this incident alone, involving a coach of this stature, could have been enough to force the NFL to settle the officiating issue. Along with the MNF gaffe, it's almost certain to be resolved.

Give Bill and the Patriots this: They never whine about anything. They take responsibility and move on. They don't make excuses, shift blame, or try to justify themselves. They don't drag things out in the media or use it for leverage. They keep it in house and let their performance speak for them. An honest fan has to respect that about them. It's something other franchises would be wise to emulate.

It does seem strange to me the kind of joy some media people take in seeing someone get fined like this for something so small. It's like the liberal media. Objectivity only applies when they are in favor of the issue. Belichick does not supply them with drama to write about so they blame him rather than their own creativity. Lame....

All the commenters that repeatly keep bringing up the Spygate theory must really be jealous of Belichick's success as a coach. You won't admit it, but you would love to have him on your team. Belichick is a class act and a brilliant coach. By not letting go of the taping incident you all show how small minded and full of hatred you are. I really feel sorry for you. Too much negative energy and you're probably very toxic to be around.

Coach Belichick was CLEARLY not attempting to attack the ref in that instance. The primary purpose of the "no physical contact with an official" is grounded in preventing violent and aggressive forms of contact. This was none of that.

Not understanding the rationale for a call (or calls) --- Coach Belichick sought the official's angle to gain a better understanding. The expression on Coach Belichick's face appeared more perplexed than antagonistic or hostile.

I think they came down too hard here, and for the wrong reasons.

That replacement ref, in my opinion, should reach out to Coach Belichick with some form of support.

Yes... And the "real" officials sure are going to be angry at Belichick for showing the frustration of coaches, players and fans alike when they get back. ;)

That was $50,000 well spent in earning the good graces of the "real" refs as far as I'm concerned.

"Zero championships since Spygate. Coincidence? I don’t think so."
^^^^^^
2001-2006:.... 82-28 record = 74.5% winning pct
2007-current: 69-21 record = 76.7% winning pct

I'm sure the zero championships since Camera Hunt has nothing to do with Tom Brady losing an entire season.
Or defensive leaders Tedy Bruschi, Rodney Harrison, Mike Vrabel and Junior Seau (RIP) retiring.
Or Willie McGinest or Richard Seymour being traded for draft picks.
Or the resulting inability of the Patriots to create defensive pressure or stop anybody defensively since 2008.

Coincidence? I don't think so.

If you ever saw a video of BB taping, you would realize that he did not thing it was illegal. The guy with the shoulder held camera is on the side line with noone on either side for 3 yards. Then on each side of him you have a person holding the camera cables. It is all out in the open. If BB thought it was cheating, the cameraman would have been more hidden.

Brady is 6-2 vs Pitt, what’s your excuse for the other 4 losses?

And yeah it was “cheating” that caused that punt Ret for a TD and that blocked FG for a TD that won the first AFC CC game

And in the second AFC CG it was the “cheating” that caused Jerome to fumble the ball when Pitt had a chance to get back in the game. And it was “cheating” when Harrrison ret a pick 80 yards for the TD.
And it was “cheating” when Corey DIllon ran that sweep a drug TP in the end zone.

The plays you are refering to happened when bb was stealing signals. Fact is the patsies are 2-1 vs steelers after spygate. I don't deny that they are a good team, but would have they won the sb without cheating. Hmmm. Hasn't happened since the whistle was blown. Keep justifying, it just shows your insecurity. LOL

Don't mention it Billy, me and you are boys. We look after each other. Scratch each other's backs and stuff.
Remember how I had your back on that camera stuff? That's what friends are for.

Now that scoundrel Sean Payton on the other hand... he's a real piece of work. If I could suspend him for another year for not talking to reporters during the Superbowl I would.

You? We'll call it 50 large but I'll talk Kraft into giving you a $50K bonus for apologizing.

Take care, love you.
