Cowboys sign ex-Bills punter Brian Moorman

It didn’t take Brian Moorman long to find a new job.

Moorman, the veteran punter who was released by the Bills on Tuesday, has signed with the Cowboys on Wednesday, according to Tim Graham of the Buffalo News.

Chris Jones, who punted the first three games of the season for the Cowboys, reportedly suffered a foot injury on Sunday. It’s not known yet whether the Cowboys plan to keep Moorman as the starter for the rest of the year, or if Jones is expected to get healthy and get the job back later this season.

Financially, this works out well for Moorman: Because he’s a vested veteran, his full salary became guaranteed from the Bills when he was on their roster in Week One. So not only does he get his entire 2012 base salary from the Bills, but he also gets whatever he’s going to make for the rest of the season from the Cowboys.

Good for Moorman. Happy you landed somewhere, i don’t even care if it’s the Cowboys. Would have bothered me if it was an AFC East team though.

It’s not enough that Mitt Romney is running for President, we have to have Moorman back in the NFL? Jeez. Oh, wait, they don’t believe in Him.

Moorman is a talented punter. Obviously, too talented for the Bills.

The Bills overpay a good punter then get cheap and cut his contract.

That’s no way to build a winning team.

Dallas got a steal here. Its no coincidence he was signed the next day. I will bet anything that he is the Cowboys punter for the next 5 seasons. A successful one at that! I still cant believe the Bills did this.

I just hope he kick the ball to Hester Monday night so he can help Chicago beat Dallas

He’s a great punter and guy, but seems unlikely he’ll be punting until he’s 42-43 years old.

Glad to see he landed somewhere. But for an aging Vet that made the Probowl 6 years ago. Currently sitting 31st in Net Punt AVG. with only 2 punts inside the 20 this year it was time for him to be replaced in buffalo. We directional punt a lot and Brian just cannot do that and keep it inbounds anymore.

Didn’t realize Jones was injured. Probably lucky to find a quality punter like Moorman so soon.

We loved Moorman too but when you’re the 31st ranked punter in the NFL you gotta step up…..Best of luck to him but not many lingers remain great for 12 years…….

Bob and Cosey….Hes not the punter he was 5 years ago but hes a good player and great in the community….

If you had read the article, the BILLS did not cut Moorman to save money. His contract is guaranteed for the rest of the year. From the sounds of it, he was not performing to the level they were hoping so they made a move to try and get better (and younger).

He was pretty bad this year. Going from punting in Buffalo to Dallas should help him.
