Yeah, the blown call, that's what got them to settle. Jesus, you media guys are so full of yourslves. You just throw crap against the wall and see if it sticks. If it doesn't, oh well, you write a new story tomorrow and see if that one sticks. Who cares, no one's keeping score.

Lucky for you.

What kills me is if you do it long enough, twenty years from now they'll be giving you awards and having dinners in your honor.

Nice scam.

Before the season, "conventional" wisdom, or insider wisdom all said the lock out would last 4-6 weeks. And that was because that was how long the owners wanted it to last. They have the actuarials figuring what is in their best interest.

Hey, guess how many weeks its been.

But, you are right, it must have been the blown call.

You can't be serious. The Vikings caught a San Fran team that overlooked the Vikes from the opening whistle.

Your boys in dark pink will be back to humility when a pissed off Detroit team knocks them around like a bunch of rag dolls at Noon on Sunday. Fret not.

One freak win and the Twink fans think they're a front runner for the Lombardi again. Undoubtedly, "ickky" is likely the same guy that will be calling for Frazier's head come Monday morning after this week's pounding. You guys crack me up.

I hope they do figure this out, I understand that the regular refs do make calls, like near the end of the game, I wouldn't have been surprised if the regular refs throw a flag on the "roughing the passer" because that has been one of the flags thats been going wild.

They deffinetly don't call Shields for PI,

Even if they don't call the PI on the hail mary. i believe the regular officials atleast communicate, and come to the right call on the hail mary.

How are the fans going to react when one of the regular officials make a really bad call that decides the outcome of a game?

Bad calls happen all of the time in the NFL. Some even more critical than this early season call with more important games are on the line.

I agree that the flow and pace of the games will improve drastically. But bad calls will always be a part of the game. Like it or not.

The regular refs miss their own fair share of calls. But that's hardly the point you should be walking away with. Anyone that had the misfortune of watching last week's Dolphins v Jets game understands that this deal means there won't be any more 5 minute delays just to properly spot the ball or review a tape or assess a penalty. Anyone that watched week 2's games will know that we won't see any more 20 player pileups that see several players ejected and fined. Patriots fans will know that Billy won't get fined for trying to get a ref's attention. And Brady will get every flag in the world that he cries for.

Yes, the regular boys make mistakes, but the integrity of your average football game will skyrocket. Favoritism or no.

The Miles Austin - Antonio Cromartie play last year was nothing like the MNF play. The two players were facing each other, Austin immediately grabbed control of the ball after Cromartie caught it, and they struggled chest-to-chest as they went down onto the ground, with Austin having as good or better handle on the ball than Cromartie.

Not even remotely comparable.

I know everyone says the regular refs blow calls too, but there is a difference in the command of the game that is the important part. The players respect them more, the coaches do and the game will be better because of that. Consistency. Consistency. Consistency. The games won't last and hour longer either from confusion. The reg refs will still mess up we all know this, but it won't be as bad and the overall games will be better with them there.

I think the substitute teacher was the best analogy. The players were acting like the sub was there, no matter how capable. Now the real teacher is back, so the students will behave better. Doesn't mean there won't be issues but the whole attitude will be different.

I feel for Green Bay and Seattle. Green Bay got screwed and Seattle has a play that overshadows all of the fine effort they had before that play. At least its all done now.

"Best of luck out there, because you will get your backsides handed to you by San Fran."

unless of course you are the Vikings.

I wonder if there would have been this much outrage, if it was the Seahawks, who got screwed at the end.
Would the Packer fans be protesting at Lambert?
Would tj lang still have been so outraged on the twitter?
would the NFL and the refs be close to a deal, if it was the Seahawks who got screwed.

It took the NFL darlings getting the short end to get this deal done.

This is NOT the deal fans really want... You do NOT want the NFL to cave! The NFL wants FULL TIME refs, and will pay more than MLB pays its full time umps (who work 160+ games per year) to the refs (who work 16). The refs unions wants pensions--for a part time job. The NFL wants FULL time refs, who they WILL give a pension, and wants the ability to bench poor performers. The union opposes this--do YOU? The NFL wants an upgrade on its refs, and I would think all of us could agree on that. Folks, this is the Chicago teachers strike with different players. I don't know why the NFL hasn't explained this better. They must have the worst PR department in the country.

I hate to be that guy but I think we need to thank NFL sports writers and analysts for keeping this a hot story and fueling the fire that these replacements were inadequate. like them or not the NFL couldn't ignore the comments made after the game by John Gruden, Trent Dilfer, and Steve Young. Man, Dilfer was outraged!! I think having the guys who call the games and do the halftime shows being so vocally opposed to what is happening on the field played a part. Not to mention every sports writer doing the same. this is one instance where I think the "media frenzy" that was created was beneficial to ending this lockout. thanks PFT for your part in getting the real zebras back.

I just hope people don't let the regular Ref's off that easy. They better be on top of their game for how much they are going to be getting paid for a part time job.
"So something good may have come from that bad call. Not that it’s much consolation to the Packers."

Ahhh. The po ol Packers got some attention. Vikes could have gotten some consolation in 2010 when the NON replacement refs blew 2 calls that got the Packers a win. Even the refs admitted they screwed up! Now, 2 seasons later when blown calls happen with replacements it matters? What a joke! Suck it up Packer whiners!
