Patriots got nailed for getting cute with the rules after repeated warnings.

And for the commenters that say “the regular refs made bad calls too”. It’s not even close to being in the same ballpark. These guys have no clue what they are doing.

Dude. 2006 AFCC….ref literally made up a penalty. FACEGUARDING on Ellis Hobbs. You’re a Pats fan too, you HAVE to remember that. They even sent a letter to Hobbs IIRC. I’d rather have a do over on that one than anything from Sunday night, bad as those calls were.

Maybe MF already mentioned this on another post but on the PFT Live show (which is awesome, for real, no kissing up) they had a longtime very well respected former official on the show and he said he would have just stopped and given BB an explanation and it was obvious that’s all he wanted. That said, I get why BB will be fined. It’s the letter of the law. I have no problem with that.

Many people on this thread don’t know the rule on the FG review. If the ball is over ANY part of the pylon it is good and not reviewable. If it is ruled completely inside or outside the pylon it IS reviewable. BB wanted this clarification and wanted to make sure the ref knew the rule, wouldn’t be the first time they didn’t. That said, BB never should have touched him and should be fined.

This doesn’t hurt Belichick and the Patriots in the long term. It helps.

No doubt the “real” refs, and certainly any fan fed up with the amateur hour we’ve seen from the replacements, appreciates Belichick making his frustration with this impasse well known.

He grabbed the ref’s arm while the guy ignored him. Go ahead fine Belichick 50K.( when someone makes 7+ mill,ok)

I was sitting at home wondering why that play wasn’t reviewed, too. The game/broadcast ended 30 seconds after the kick was made.

I was glad Bill was pissed, he should have been.
He’s gonna get fined, and that’s it. No one in New England has an issue with that.

As a Pats fan, I agree 100% that he should be fined. But don’t blow it out of proportion. He did not punch the ref in the face. He grabbed his arm. When’s the last time you fined someone for grabbing your arm?

We’re 1-2 no matter how big the fine, and improving our record is the only thing BB is thinking about.

How can you be sure that FG was good? Probably a scared to make the call….

I’m pretty sure the ref standing underneath the goal post had the best angle of the kick. There was nothing in the replay that showed he missed the kick.

The other coaches who’ve done less, already received their fines/punishments!

GODell and the pats organization are probably tryin to figure out a way to divy up this fine! sad…favoritism!
