Spiller could return to practice this week

C.J. Spiller, Ryan Fitzpatrick AP

The Bills thought running back Fred Jackson would miss more than a month with a knee injury.  He could be back in less time than that.

The Bills also thought running back C.J. Spiller would miss at least a week with a shoulder injury.  And he could be back in less time than that.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Spiller is healing faster than expected from a sprained shoulder.  He could return to practice this week.

It’s unclear whether that means he’d play on Sunday against the Patriots.  But no one expected Jackson the play again in September, and right now he’s on track to return.

Either way, Spiller is a lot closer to playing than anyone thought he would when he fell awkwardly on his shoulder against the Browns.

Gotta love an entire backfield fighting for 1 job, Buffalo has a good problem and I’ll bet a good O-Line!

Great news. The guy is having a breakthrough year so far. The Bills need both him and Fred Jackson back if they are to make the playoffs.

Funny, isn’t it, how the presence of another qualified player at their position seems to aid the healing process for NFL players.

Ralph Wilson must have some German doctors on speed dial. That or the water in Buffalo is out of this world good.

Either the Bills are hoping the Patriots believe that one or both Spiller and Jackson will be back for the game this Sunday, so they are forced to plan for the situation or the two Running Backs will be back for sure to take on the Bills biggest Division rival.

If one, both or neither are back, still expect the Bills to run the ball down the throat of that New England Defense. Whether Its Jackson, Spiller or Choice and White the Bills are going to depend on the run for this game. I bet we’ll see 60%-40% run over pass on Sunday. The only passes you will see will be screens, short slants and the occasional 5 wide redzone play that Gailey likes to run. The only way we will see Fitzpatrick slinging passes is if the Bills get behind early. Otherwise, expect Gailey to use Fitzpatrick’s arm as little as possible.

I think the Bills can take the Pats….. and may even have enough run game to give the Niners a good go.

The Bills offensive line should get a lot if credit. Cordy Glenn has really solidified this unit. Tashard Choice gained 90 yards on 18 carries after Spiller went down last week. They are really getting the job done this season.

A starting job that is up for grabs is always a great motivation, but honesty both these guys deserve a shot at a record breaking year, Fred Jackson was on pace last season before his injury as was CJ Spiller this season before his. Both class acts on and off the field.

Damn did the Bills doctors learn that trick from Mr. Miyagi…

Nice problem for the Bills to have…unfortunate problem for the Fantasy owners who have either Jackson or Spiller on their roster.

He is really looking like a hell of a draft pick.. This is the reason teams do not listen to Kiper/Mcshay…i know it is early but he could be better than Peters..

Hey Spiller, refocus your life priorities and make football a dynamic part of it. Then put your heart and soul into your workouts and you can achieve goals that are beyond your wildest dreams.
