Getty ImagesFormer offensive linemen Larry Allen and Jonathan Ogden, Buccaneers standouts Warren Sapp and John Lynch, single-season sack leader Michael Strahan and kicker Morten Andersen are among the 13 first-year eligible candidates for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The complete list of candidates (which you can see here) includes 127 names, which will be whittled down to 25 semifinalists in late November. Then that group will be culled to 15 names which will be announced in January, and voted on (to determine a class of five, maximum) the day before the Super Bowl.
Two senior nominees — former Chiefs and Oilers nose tackle Curley Culp and former Packers and Redskins linebacker Dave Robinson— are voted upon separately, for a maximum class of seven.
The 2013 list of modern-era nominees includes 89 players, 14 coaches and 24 contributors.
Last year’s 10 finalists who missed the cut and return to the ballot include running back Jerome Bettis, wide receivers Tim Brown, Cris Carter and Andre Reed, guard Will Shields, defensive end Charles Haley, linebacker Kevin Greene, cornerback Aeneas Williams along with Bill Parcells and Ed DeBartolo, Jr.
The other first-year eligible nominees also include quarterback Steve McNair, running back Priest Holmes, wide Receiver Keenan McCardell, center Tom Nalen, defensive tackles Sam Adams and Ted Washington and defensive end Bryant Young.
