The Chargers are kicking off at 10 a.m. Pacific Time this weekend, so they’re adjusting their practice schedule accordingly.
Instead of practicing at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, they bumped it up to 11:45 a.m., and moved Friday’s practice up 45 minutes to get some work before lunch in.
“Our approach today was to get in here a little earlier,” Chargers coach Norv Turner said, via Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego. “Try to change things up dramatically and get them out of a comfort zone from a normal practice. It becomes a big issue Sunday. We do play a noon game; it’s 10 a.m. our time.
“It’s a way for them to understand that we’ve got to be ready at 12 when the ball is kicked off.”
The Chargers have been good in these games in the past. They’re 3-0 in the early kickoff at Kansas City.
Maybe Turner should have considered it last week, and his team wouldn’t have looked sound asleep to start their 1 p.m. Pacific game against the Falcons.
