Lions special teams definitely aren’t

AP

Another game, another complete failure by the Lions special teams.

Detroit trails at home by 14, and they’ve surrendered a kickoff return and a punt return for a touchdown to the Vikings.

Marcus Sherels, a Rochester native who played college football at Minnesota, shimmied through coverage before busting open a 77-yard punt return for a score early in the third quarter.

Prior to the season, coach Jim Schwartz said that the players on specials teams aren’t good enough.  The last eight days have proven him to be dead-on balls accurate.

  1. As a Detroit fan, this team is a complete disappointment this year. DL that thinks we’re the NYG DL but have been outplayed every game this year. TE who drops at least 2 big passes a game. OL that can’t get push in the running game to save their lives. And ST’s so poorly coached they might as well fire that guy and let Roary (the mascot) coach them, because they really couldn’t be any worse.

  2. Lions special teams is “PATHETIC” pls get rid of Danny Crossman same problems from last year but this season were giving up touchdowns

  3. This is why many of us come to this site. “shimmied” is not used enough, but when used is stellar. “dead-on balls” is another classic. On that note: Vikings look good (sorta) but the second half of their schedule is a son-bitch.

  4. Cant change just coaching on Lion’s special teams. Players don’t know how to tackle, don’t stay in their defensive lanes, are too slow to react … basically are pathetic in their performances. Time also to change players. Maybe import some fresh blood from practice squad or ?

  5. Kassim Osgood has been horrible in every game this year and we took somebody’s job away to sign him before the season started and I have been livid every day since. He could have stopped both of the TDs today if he was good at his role but he is not.

Danny Crossman is killing us with a plethora of mistakes in about a dozen elements of Special Teams play and fundamentals.

  6. If the o.c. is’nt fired during the bye im gonna join all the other lions fans and jump off the band wagon like asian carp.
lions overacheaved last season and drafted a tackle and a f ing reciever in the draft what a joke we are right back where we belong in the sinkhole of the nfc north

  7. are packers fan and lions fan mad that we won today and actually at the moment in first place well see how bears do if they lose we for sure stay on top and next week is a home game so hopefully another win under our belt skol vikings

  8. Good job Vikings. I’m a Lions fan and that was embarrassing today.

Please fire the special teams coach ASAP!!!

Time to start counting the days until the draft…. Hey, other Lions fans, who you want them to take in the first round this year?

LOL…. might as well just accept it early. It’ll save the frustration as the year unfolds.

Signed: A 23 year fan and season ticket holder!!!

  9. Hey guy’s it’s only week four! let’s not go nut’s All four teams in the NFC north have some things to work on!! I know a win is a win! and as a Vikes fan Ill take it!! A lot of things can & will happen in twelve more games As a Vikes fan! They need to take advantage of the first part of the schedule, Because the last part of it is tough!!
