Honestly, the raiders had a better system and were much better with cambell at QB, had he not got injured, I saw them winning the west with a 10+ win season. Raiders set themselves back big time by trading for a guy who was already on the downwards of his career and they still didn't make the playoffs. In palmer's 8 seasons with the Bengals, he's only taken them to the playoffs once which they've lost. Instead of trading away away high round picks, they have could have played prior to see what he can bring trouble the table, sort of like what the broncos did with tebow. Who knows, they could've had RG3 or the other talented QBs from this pass draft. All in all, raiders has and still is tanking on QBs, how do you not know how to address the one important need on every football team

...and by the way...completing 50% for most of the game is exactly that. I don't understand the confusion. You can look up stats on the internet if you want...it doesn't change my opinion. I watch the games. I remember almost throwing up during the Pittsburgh game when he was somewhere in the neighborhood of 30% for most of the first half and Ben had like 200 yards already. Just because he gets some in late in the game and somehow averages 60% for the season....another irrelevant number....doesn't mean that he wasn't blowing it for two or three quarters prior to that....maybe that's why we are throwing so much....we are behind. Here are some stats. He has 5 tds, 2 ints, and a fumble in four games and is averaging just over 6 yards a toss with a QB rating of 63....and 60% is cool?? You're looking at the wrong stats dude. I'm not hating....but I think you are trying too hard to like him. I'm hopeful too....but not buying it. Sorry. Still gonna watch and bleed every week like you. Go Raiders.

If you watch the games you would know Palmer is not good. I told you the stats don't tell the story...stats never tell the whole story. If you like Palmer, great....I disagree. If you are happy with a 60 percent completion percentage from a veteran QB throwing five yards at a time...okay...I'm not. The stats sure don't show you that he has personally tanked at least three touchdowns this year...if not more....two last game. Guys are wide open and he completely misses them. Please don't tell me our guys aren't getting separation...that's ridiculous. He overthrew Moore by ten yards and he was wide open. I don't care if he throws for 10,000 yds this year. If he can't put it in the endzone...it flat out doesn't matter. That's the cold hard truth. He is not the only problem. I would never say that...but I am not buying him as part of the solution either. Let Saunders run the offense and we'll see....maybe he proves me wrong.

Murfdeezy,
I agree with some of what you say, but I think your take on Palmer is WAY OFF.

How is Palmer usually completing "50% the majority of the game" when he's completing more than 60% on the season? Guy is getting absolutely pummeled behind that offensive line and his receivers rarely get separation, yet he's on pace for a 4,300 yard season and only has 2 INTs -- and one of those was only because D-Moore slipped on the dirt infield in Oakland.

Bottom line: Palmer has been the best player on this team this year and it's not even close.

The Raiders just got flat out whooped by a better team that was well coached. The coaches did their job and the players executed. The donkeys gave us more than enough opportunities to win...we just suck. It's embarrassing but it's also true. I agree that Knapp is the most dismal play caller in the NFL. It's disgraceful that all we have to do is shove him in a locker to improve. We still have Saunders on the staff and he ran a pretty good offense last year. This looks like intentional tanking at this point.

Palmer does suck...period. He is being asked to throw five yard passes and screws it up regularly. He threw it backwards in traffic and almost cost us a couple of good players and a lot of yards yesterday. Goodson saved his arse. He has cost us multiple touchdowns this season by overthrowing wide open receivers too. It's gross. He folds when the pressure comes and makes mistakes I would expect out of a rookie QB. His stats are irrelavant...because of all the little 5 yard bombs he's slinging...and he usually is throwing at less than 50% for the majority of the game anyway. He's gross and it's embarrassing...period.

Huff was the worst player in the secondary yesterday, so I don't understand why people are complementing his performance. Pat Lee played better than Huff. Branch is the leader of that secondary and I would rather see Giordano than Huff....at least he works hard and can make a damn tackle.

We have an incompetent offense that is the worst I've seen since Art Shell came back for a run. Hue must be laughing his arse off right now. We have no pass rush and a hodge podge secondary. Our offensive line is a disaster like it always is when we try zone blocking....fact. Dmac is the same runningback...if not better...he has no lane and no chance. This was the defense our head coach ran last year and he couldn't even get us in the endzone once.

Bottom line is that we deserve all the criticism we are getting right now. I'm just irritated that we as fans apparently care more than the guys getting paid to care....again. Al was going a little loopy in the later years, but I never questioned his try. He always did what his crazy brain told him would help him win right away....not ten years later...and he would have never tolerated this team. In fact Allen and Knapp would probably not be working in Oakland today...at least not in football. Disgraceful and I blame the coaching staff and front office. Thank god for a bye so I don't have to puke myself to sleep next Sunday.

The Raiders are about as bad as they should be. The Chiefs are much worse.

ALL WRONG !
the Raiders are the ones who mortgaged the teams future with Palmer…not brought in to slowly improve, but have an immediate impact.
the Raiders are supposed to have the running game in place with Mcfadden…that’s why they traded away a good back in Bush.
the Raiders are supposed to have the deep threat with the speedy recieivers.
the Raiders had a very stout Defense last year….
I would say it’s the Raiders who are Big-Time under acheiving at this point.
-------
You aren't even close. The Raiders didn't trade Bush. They could not afford to keep him, and let him walk as a free agent. The defense was weak last year. The running game was 7th last season, 2nd in 2010. It's dead last this year. The receivers are gimped. The mike linebacker is a giant bust. There is blame to be spread, but it's not on Palmer. I like beer, too, but you are either drunk or confused.

Here’s all you need to know about the Raiders: Since 1970, they’ve employed TWENTY head coaches.
The Steelers, in comparison, have employed THREE over that same period of time.

Who cares how many coaches the Steelers have had? They're 0-2 against the AFC West this season. Go post on a Jets story.

Personally, I think the Raiders and Chiefs tie for total suck. But the big difference is that the Chiefs do it relatively quietly, while the Raiders go out of their way to set records for most penalties, and most times being beaten by the same time, etc.
Additionally, Chiefs fans are a little crazy, but Raiders’ fans are complete tool bags, who dress in children’s Halloween costumes, and think they somehow own stock in the team just because they have giant pirate face logos on the Chevys.
--------
The fans pay their money. If they want to dress up and have fun, who cares? I see absurd costumes in every stadium. As for the teams themselves, the Chiefs are easily a bigger disappointment. Oakland has a new regime, is churning the roster, and lacks draft picks and cap space. The Chiefs were supposed to have impact players on defense and a strong running game, and they had money to spend. Their defense is giving up 34 points per game, and their quarterback is just garbage. The Raiders are about as bad as they should be. The Chiefs are much worse.

I'm not even going to gloat like the Raiders fans know how to do even when they're plain awful. But Denver had to win this game and I didn't see them losing 5 years in a row in Mile High. Next week is going to be a tough game but I think we can win. All we have to do is stop Gronk and their running game. Hernandez was our main problem last year (obviously not playing) so if we can continue to rack up points then we can beat them. Plus Chris Kuper will be back and that will be huge. Oh yea thank you New England for Dan Koppen! He played amazing in place of Walton and he may have a few tips for our defense stopping their game plan. Go Broncos!

well I think the reality is we really are not that good..have nobody making plays. ( game ball to Lamarr Houston for hustle, and showing that he cares...real fact is the offense sucks under knapp, and it seems the "d" has been on the field for 75% of the season.

Game was close for the first half...and at half time coaches make their adjustments......very appearent Knapp got out coached yesterday by Fox/Del Rio..., and lets get real the raiders secondary sucks. Everyone of those guys with the exception of Huff, and Branch are all second string guys at best, and wouldnt even make rosters on 85% of the teams out there. Manning picked them apart all day long to everybody, and anybody on the field.

I have kept an open mind with Reggie, but to cut half a roster that has made progress the past couple of years to get into playoff contention, and then to be told to have "patience" is absurd to say the least.....Patience....what do you think the nation has been for the past decade?

sullijo1:

Good point. Granted, they did win the AFC West two seasons ago, for whatever its worth.

Personally, I think the Raiders and Chiefs tie for total suck. But the big difference is that the Chiefs do it relatively quietly, while the Raiders go out of their way to set records for most penalties, and most times being beaten by the same time, etc.

Additionally, Chiefs fans are a little crazy, but Raiders' fans are complete tool bags, who dress in children's Halloween costumes, and think they somehow own stock in the team just because they have giant pirate face logos on the Chevys.

Its funny how last week when the raiders beat the steelers, fans was all hyped, say how they gonna win the west, then they laid an egg. Excuses from you fans is raiders missing players on defense. My theory is their not tough enough, you look at teams like dolphins, cardinals, seahawks and redskins, they go into every game playing their hardiest, keeping games close alike the raiders who got blown out twice allowing already over 100 points

Really awful game. It was actually close at halftime (10-6) but that was a little misleading. Probably should've been 20-6 with Thomas fumbling en route to another TD and a silly fake FG.

Those knocking Carson Palmer don't know what they're talking about though. He's by far the best QB the Raiders have had since Rich Gannon and a borderline top-10 QB in the league if you know football. The Palmer trade was a great trade for the Raiders. Good QBs are hard to get and even first-round draft picks are outright busts or JAGs 90 percent of the time. The problem was not the Palmer trade, the problem is that we got rid of the guy -- Hue Jackson -- who made the trade.

Here are the problems:
- Offensive coordinator is terrible.
- Offensive line makes up for its lack of run blocking with its terrible pass blocking.
- 3 of our top 4 WRs are out. Two with injury. The other was traded by McNumnutz to Carolina for a bag of balls.
- Dennis Allen is not ready to be a head coach. It's blatantly obvious.
- McNumnutz didn't feel that it was imperative to have an edge rusher in today's pass-heavy NFL. So he cut Kam Wimbley to save some cap money, despite still paying half of Wimbley's salary this year. Good QBs will carve up any defense with the kind of cushion we're giving them by having zero pass rush. Raiders were top-half of the league in sacks last year despite rarely blitzing. They're 31st in the league so far with a pathetic 3 sacks in 4 games. And I would guess they have fewer QB pressures than any team in the league.

This trainwreck was set in motion by Mark Davis and Reggie McKenzie when they fired Hue Jackson. I don't expect them to admit this failure and they'll probably continue on with these same clowns for several years or until the team gets bought.

Man, that second round pick headed to the Bengals looks like its going to be AWFULLY close to the first one of the round.
To give up two starters and lose a head coach for a washed up head-case [when Palmer gets nervous/high-tension late game situations, he throws high--been that way since USC. Bounces off receivers hands and right to a safety] must feel terrible.
It'll take until 2017 to recover.
