1, Because the Eagles have solid DB’s, while the Giants DB’s are terrible. If they play bumb and run, Jackson or Maclin will burn them deep, all night. Much like happened to DRC against Cruz on the 4th down play. NOBODY bumbs Jackson without Safety help, you can’t blitz, AND have safety help
2, Again, back to the DB’s. If they don’t feel their db’s can stick with the Eagles WR’s (and they can’t), then you can’t just keep blitzing, or the Eagles adjust and burn them. The Giants front 4 is one of the best in the NFL, but he back 4 is one of the worst
3, A screen or an out route that doesn’t get the first (16 yards) or out of bounds ends the game. It’s going to be at maybe 7-8 seconds, you aren’t getting your FG unit out and set up in that time. An out would be just as likely to be a pick as a catch, as the DB would be sitting on it.

____________________________________________
VERY LONG

1. With all due respect the Giants DB's are decimated, but they are not terrible. In fact these DB's are better suited for bump and run than the ones that Steve Spagnuolo had in his tenure here, and he still implemented a press coverage system. You can get beat in any coverage, but with a cushion you are simply allowing it to happen. When you cover a faster quicker guy you never give the guy a cushion. He will make you look silly. You bump him and help out the blitz, if you choose to blitz.

And yes, you can blitz and have safety help. For instance if the Eagles have 3 WR's and a TE and a back there in case Giants blitz, Giants can have Nickel personnel and have one of the LB's there blitz, while the other would cover the TE. The 3 CB's can bump the WR's and the safeties can still give help on top. It is possible to do that. It's risky but sometimes you have to take risks when things aren't working, what do you have to lose? Let Jackson and Maclin run without a free release and beat you anyway, or at least try to disrupt their timing? For me if I'm a CB and I'm playing off and the guy is abusing me, I won't continue to play off. I would try something else like bump and run. Even if he still beats me, I wouldn't be thinking about coulda shoulda woulda.

2. Like I said earlier, why give the faster guys a clean release and have them run at full speed when you aren't even out of your back pedal? In 2012 the Giants played the WR's more physical, especially the 1st 3 quarters of that comeback. What happened to the Eagles offense? The Giants attacked them and were physical with pretty much similar personnel. Better to be even a little speed bump to Jackson and Maclin, then nothing at all.

It amazes me about the perception of the Giants front four. The Giants front four is not the best front four, why do people constantly say that? Many people act like the Giants d-line can't be stopped, when that is BS. Now, if you say they are among the best talent wise, that's different. They are not the best, Tuck really is not the same, Osi is simply a speed rusher that doesn play the run well, Kiwanuka is a fine hybrid but not an elite one, and Pierre Paul istremendous. For DT's Linval Joseph is very strong and stout, Canty is still on the PUP, Marvin Austin has talent but is still learning things as he's been injured he first 2 years in the league, and the other back-ups aren't really good. There's talent, but people need to stop acting like the Giants have guys like Reggie White, Deacon Jones, etc on their line.

3. True, but if it's a 54 yard field goal, it isn't a chip shot. Certain ranges you can sacrifice some power for better accuracy. 54 yards you really can't. I mentioned that simply for the fact that even if it was simply a 4 yard gain and the guy went out of bounds, that does make a difference.

You make some good points, but I feel as though there are times you have to take risks.

Personally if I were a kicker I would love the opposing team to call a timeout. Gives me more time to study the shot and plan.
The worst case is running onto the field and having to line up quickly and giving it a try. Please call a timeout and save me.
I would never call a timeout if I was a coach.

I understand that the Giant defensive philosophy is to try and get pressure rushing 4.

But I think they did Vick a tremendous favor yesterday by not pressuring him with more blitzes. Yes, he will occasionally burn you with his feet when you blitz, but he also tends to turn the ball over much more often when he is under pressure.

Actually ramesses was playing peek a boo with aso on the OPI. The philadelphia eagles are selling swamp land in north jersey since they have owned the philadelphia owned NJ ginas for the pass 5 years. they are not 8-1…..they are 9-1

Well, well, well...looks who's out from under the rock he's been hiding under since last years "dream team" tanked. I guess now that the eagles beat the Giants (yes, again), you're going to puff your chest out pridefully, pretending that you've been backing "your team" all along.

You've been MIA since last November, dude. Turned tail and ran when the Eagles spit the bit last year. Your true colors have been shown, mad, and they are NOT green and white. They're yellow.

No complaints about that terrible overturning of the call of incomplete pass on the clear bounce-pass that kept an Eagles drive alive? How much more clearly can a ball hit the ground before the call on the field can be upheld?

6. The Eagles kickoff coverage is embarrassing. And Henery needs to work on his leg strength or something if he is barely kicking it into the end zone with the extra 5 yards.

Lets not complain about the OPI penalty. The drive should have been over already. It felt as if someone was really rooting for the Giants there. Walking them down the field with questionable penalties, and playing salsa music on a supposedly unbiased network is just ludicrous.

Boring first half, great second half. I couldnt get to sleep for some time afterwards, and had to be up at 5. Good game to watch.

As a New York Giants fan that game was definitely a tough pill to swallow but so be it, both teams fought hard and they'll meet again. Unfortunately, the Giants defensive ends were unable to hold contain for LeSean McCoy and Mike Vick and the Eli Manning interception was crushing...But, can we please do away with the icing the kicker junk? Andy Reid shouldn't have been granted the timeout considering the ball was snapped before he signaled timeout. It's a waste of time and pointless delay tactic.

Yes the giants have two rings but i guarantee they wouldnt if the Eagles had anything to say about it if they met them in the playoffs, so between the two teams in recent overall history the Eagles own the Giants theyre the Eagles bitches and Philly continues to slap em around silly

What was questionable? Should if of been a personal foul?
The only questionable calls on that last drive were the 2 terrible calls that got the Giants anywhere near FG position in the first place.
But as I posted above, the refs WERE horrible all game, but the blatant PI on Barden was not even close to being a bad call. He literally bear hugged Namdi, with one hand grabbing his head.

---------------------------------------

Al Michaels was funny at the end of the game when Collingsworth was commenting at the refs. Collingsworth joked about the Eagles wishing the replacement refs were back because of all the PIs called on the eagles that last drive for the giants. Michaels defended the regular refs. Then came the phantom call that put the Giants in FG range. Collingsworth said he wouldn't have called that and Al Michaels just bit his tongue and refused to acknowledge that comment.

He is such a hypocrite. He's like Gruden. Won't say a negative word about the union officials no matter what. They only criticize when they feel safe.

The Eagles are a good team and probably a playoff team, so all the haters need to stop making excuses for the Eagles victories. They have played 3 good teams in the first 4 games and are 3-1, so I don't care how much they won by. A win is a win period. The Eagles called a much better game and Vick didn't have to do it all. This is how the Eagles need to play going forward if they want to win. Eagles get in trouble when Andy Reid comes out of the gates trying to throw bombs every play. I like the running and the short yardage passes. How far they go to me depends on Andy Reid and whether he sticks to a balanced attack.

This game came down to Vick outplaying Eli (yet again).
How the eagles won this game with their abismal offensive line is shocking.
Just more proof that this giants team is the worst team to ever win a superbowl…
-----------

And don't even try to leverage this nonsense into stating that Vick is even in Eli's LEAGUE, much less "better".

Just more proof that the Eagles blow their entire rolls just to get up for the Giants and completely lay eggs -- like last week -- and when it matters... playoffs... when not playing the Giants.

Sort of like how the Red Sox are going to attempt to do with the Yankees this week...

. Eagles and Giants blitzed. Eagles blitzed much more, but more importantly they played bump and run. That gives the blitz more time. For the Giants they blitzed and play off. When you play off you are showing the QB where to throw. Even if Vick had to throw early, the WR already is open thanks to the cushion. Perry Fewell messed up here.

2. Prior to this game Vick had 75% completion percentage when Giants sent 4 or less people after Vick, when it was 5 or more it was 48%. My question is, why rely so much on the front 4 or 3?

3. Tynes has been great all year. However his 2nd miss he didn’t kick it good. 54 yard field goal is too far to sacrifice strength for accuracy. Tynes has the leg strength to kick that, he showed it on the 1st miss. Not saying he would make it, but the leg strength would be there. In addition at least the Giants should have tried a sideline route or screen on the side of a multiple WR look.

_________________
1, Because the Eagles have solid DB's, while the Giants DB's are terrible. If they play bumb and run, Jackson or Maclin will burn them deep, all night. Much like happened to DRC against Cruz on the 4th down play. NOBODY bumbs Jackson without Safety help, you can't blitz, AND have safety help
2, Again, back to the DB's. If they don't feel their db's can stick with the Eagles WR's (and they can't), then you can't just keep blitzing, or the Eagles adjust and burn them. The Giants front 4 is one of the best in the NFL, but he back 4 is one of the worst
3, A screen or an out route that doesn't get the first (16 yards) or out of bounds ends the game. It's going to be at maybe 7-8 seconds, you aren't getting your FG unit out and set up in that time. An out would be just as likely to be a pick as a catch, as the DB would be sitting on it.
