Through four weeks, the Vikings have matched their entire win total for the 2011 season.
They got to three victories on Sunday with a 20-13 win over the Lions in Detroit, snapping a three-game losing streak to the Lions and moving to 1-0 in the division after going 0-6 against the NFC North last season.
The Vikings held on after the Lions cut the lead in half, and then had a chance to force overtime. Detroit couldn’t get anything going, with the drive petering out before the Lions could even get to the 50.
Minnesota continues to give Adrian Peterson heavy reps. He had 21 carries for 102 yards on the day, his first 100-yard game of the season.
The Vikings had only 111 passing yards from quarterback Christian Ponder. Fifty of them came from receiver Jerome Simpson in his debut with the Vikings, after missing the first three games of the season due to a suspension.
The Vikings have a chance to go to 4-1 next weekend, when the Titans come to town.
