It’s unknown whether the Steelers will have safety Troy Polamalu or linebacker James Harrison after the team’s Week Four bye. According to Paul Zeise of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, it’s looking more likely that the Steelers will have running back Rashard Mendenhall when the Eagles come to town.
“I’m really just waiting on my opportunity,” Mendenhall said. “I just want to continue to work and, as we as an offense sort of form ourselves and bring the pieces together, I want to bring whatever piece I bring.”
Without Mendenhall, who tore an ACL in January, the Steelers running game has been in many small pieces; they have the third-worst running attack in the league.
"[T]o get another difference-maker back will, hopefully, will be a big deal for us,” offensive coordinator Todd Haley said.
Under Haley, it was believed the Steelers would run the ball more. They haven’t. But that may have something to do with the lack of guys who can move the chains. Mendenhall, who’s in the final year of his rookie contract, can -- and possibly will.
We’ll find out when the Steelers host the 3-1 Eagles on Sunday, which should be one of the better games of the day.
