I present to you Jamaal Charles and his 233 yards rushing game 3 into the season following an ACL tear.

Although to be fair, he did play in 4 preseason games.

Naturally, I hope we get Mendy back and ready to rock. But as a realist, our OL is not opening running lanes --- backs are getting hit a step or two after the handoff. Opposing line penetration is very evident.

At least our OL is protecting Ben better, but my hope coming into this year was that Gilbert would be solid with his first off-season to develop.

Also, we wanted to see DeCastro and Adams kick tail, but DeCastro got hurt and Adams has a lot work to do. And Starks is coming off a blown ACL.

In addition, Colon was supposed to be a road-grader at his "natural position" of OG, but my breakdowns of tape showing him struggling in that regard, particularly in pulling.

It's early, and DeCastro may come back. But our running problems start with the line.

Last point: no player has the same explosion so soon after smoking an ACL. Remember, Mendy cooked his ACL in 2012. Even Adrian Peterson, a freak of nature if there ever was one, is playing well --- but still not with the explosion he had pre-ACL injury yet. I would temper expectations here a bit.
