Unbeaten Cardinals OK with not being the prettiest or most popular

The Cardinals know no one expects them to be 4-0 right now.

They’re also sure they don’t care.

The NFL’s most unexpected undefeated team is well aware of the perceptions, but they’re successful in part by being comfortable in their own skin.

We’re not the prettiest girl at the dance,” guard Daryn Colledge told Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic.

“We’re like a ‘four’ or a ‘five.’ But we dance like an ‘eight.’”

That’s an eye-of-the-beholder distinction, because the wins keep piling up.

Their overtime win over the Dolphins was their eight straight at home, which includes five in overtime, and two others decided by a combined six points.

“There’s never a doubt when we get to overtime,” center Lyle Sendlein said. “It’s a weird feeling.”

It was also their 11th win in their last 13 games overall, and the 500th win in franchise history (against a mere 699 losses and 39 ties).

While it might not make tangible sense when you look at the way they’re built, and the way the Dolphins manhandled them throughout the day, it keeps working, so they keep dancing.

Im very happy for Kevin Kolb. He has been playing very well, and Im glad he doesnt have to listen to everyone complaining about him every week now.

And he is staying healthy on top of that. So my hats off to you Kevin Kolb. I knew you had it in you.

This isn’t your fathers NFL, it’s a QB league and they don’t have one.
This year’s Bills, 9-7 at best!

As a Niner fan, I have to say this team knows how to get it done. Fitz is always amazing. Tell me again how bad the NFC West is.

Their D is formidable, but history tells us their O isn’t going to last.

Still see them falling apart and finishing 8-8/9-7.

I think they lose this week in St louis as well. Rams are a lot better this season under Jeff Fisher

It’s a damn tough division, filled with 4 very good D’s.

The Dolphins outplayed them yesterday, 8 sacks is quite a lot of sacks. dolphins just have to learn to win in overtime. Rookie QB who threw for over 400yds and a wide receiver who had 240yds. What does that tell you about the Cardinals? They certainly are not the prettiest at the dance, and someone will find the answer along the way.

I still see them as a 9 or 10 win team in heavy playoff contention but 23 games in between wins of more than 7 points and just squeeking out 3 wins this season. On top of all the OT’s in their streak says they wont keep up. Eventually the luck runs out.. but please explain how weak the nfc west is folks. Best combined record in the league

The NFC West currently has the most wins of any division in the NFL

Cardinals have a great team especially on defense. With that being said-short week with travel and I see the Rams pulling off another upset

People will doubt the Cards for the rest of the season. Into the Playoffs included. Its all good though #birdgang

When Kolb has a little time in the pocket, he throws a high number of good balls. Now to work on that time thing.

The NFC West is the new NFC East.

They are who we thought they were!!And the Dolphins let em off the hook!!

Cards are 11-2 in their last 13 games. That sounds legit to me.

Having been burned in the playoffs vs. the Saints, Whisenhut knew that the one guy who could beat the Cards was Reggie Bush. So they assigned Darrel Washington to spy him. That’s why the middle of the field was open so much, because Washington was zeroing on Bush. But in the end, Bush was a non-factor, and the Cards won.

“This year’s Bills, 9-7 at best!” Considering some of you clowns had them pegged at 3-13, 4-12 or 5-11 this year, you’d serve yourself best by not against the Cardinals this year.

  19. theoriginalcardsfan says: Oct 1, 2012 4:18 PM

“Even a blind squirrel sometimes finds a nut.” Or people are simply too stubborn or stupid to admit they’re wrong on the Cardinals.

” Eventually the luck runs out..” What luck? Winning close games isn’t luck.. it’s called executing at the end. NFL teams who win close games are winners, not just lucky. There are more than enough NFL teams who fold like a tortilla when the pressure is on. The Cards have been on that side for a long time.. give them credit where it’s due and stop calling it “luck.” Luck doesn’t get you 4-0..

“Still see them falling apart and finishing 8-8/9-7.” You better get your glasses/contacts replaced then.
