Delayed Santonio diagnosis likely isn’t good news

On Monday, Jets receiver Santonio Holmes underwent an MRI exam on his injured foot.  The team said only that he’ll miss “weeks.”

It’s now nearly Tuesday afternoon, and there has been no definitive word regarding the specific injury.

In this regard, no news is likely bad news.

We’ll still wait for the official diagnosis, but if there were good news it would be news by now.  Chances are that it’s bad news (as in possibly season-ending news), and that the Jets want to line up a replacement via trade or free agency before it’s known to the world that they have no leverage.

The free-agent cupboard is limited to guys like Terrell Owens, Chad Johnson, and Plaxico Burress.  The other possibility would be to look at every team’s depth chart at receiver, and to see if anyone has someone who isn’t being used like he could be.

Go ahead and pick an idiot, any idiot.

The way their trainwreck is moving, they should bring in all three of those guys (Owens, Johnson, Burress). They would take over the top 3 spots with no resistance from their other “WRs” on the roster.

After watching last nights game Bryant looks like a perfect fit.

The results are delayed because when Rex realized it was an MRI of Holmes’s foot, he said to the team doctors, “Um, do you mind if I take these home? I want to, um, take a closer look at them.”

I disagree. Bryant is young and has great talent. The other guys mentioned are far from young in football terms. I’ll agree if you’re referring to the mental side of things

If I’m Mark Sanchez I’m curling up in a ball and crying about now.

Receivers don’t matter when you don’t have a quarterback.

Please add TO!! As a Dolphins fan I would love to watch that train wreck…..he would eat Sanchez alive

Well one good thing: if they sign T.O., Ocho, or Plax their diva quotient won’t suffer. Can’t wait to see the line on Monday night’s game.

Meaning what? That they’re running routes instead of run blocking for Tebow?

Jabar Gaffney, Donte Stallworth. Both good pickups

Of course there hasn’t been any definitive word about the, er, *cough* “injury”.

Wouldn’t be surprised at all if the Jets are either exploring a trade to dump this malcontent elsewhere as we speak, or they’re preparing to announce his release shortly.

I would say, you know what, they should sign all of them, at least Plax, because Sanchez has had a good rapport with him. Maybe he can open up the running game. But you know what? This team is imploding already. Their defense is more suspect than before. Even if they sign some red zone or deep threat wide receivers, what’s that going to do to their record? Finish 6-10 instead of 3-13 or 4-12? It’s not worth it. This team doesn’t have the talent to get to the playoffs, let alone go deep. I rather them lose as many games as possible and get some good draft picks and get Mr. T OUTTA THERE and find a GM who knows what he’s doing with said picks.

I hope he’s OK. Nobody lays down a triple move like Santonio Holmes. T.O. Would be a good idea because I think his work ethic and training habits would set a priceless example for the young receivers on the roster.

They should sign all 3 of em. And maybe see if Favre has an itch.
