The amount of people calling it the wildcat is getting ridiculous. SPREAD OPTION! and Kap is the future, no doubt about it. The Niners are going to have to release Alex Smith in order to use that money to sign Navarro Bowman to a long term deal. I'm ok with that, I feel like Alex Smith has peaked, and I don't think putting Colin in would lessen their chances at winning ballgames. He can do everything Alex Smith can do, and better.

Yeah....Kap plays QB so he doesn't run the wildcat when he takes the snap from Center. Back in the old days that was called a QB sneak! lol

I like Kap, but he isn't ready to run this team yet. He doesn't habe the ability to accurately read defenses and check out of bad plays yet. It isn't quite time to unleash him...yet!

Tebow doesnt have the mauling offensive line that the Niners have so it stands to reason that Colin would be having a better season. All you have to do a comparison of rushing yards between the two teams to come to that conclusion.

@goldrush36: Yea Alex's presnap reads looked brilliant on sunday when he took back to back sacks that took the team out of field goal range on one series, and then tripped over himself trying to run the ball at the end of the half that killed any chance at a TD. Smith is an 8 year veteran who still plays like a rookie and the 49ers will never win a Superbowl with him.

Kaepernick should be the PERMANENT starter as he has one of the strongest throwing arm in all the NFL. Alex Smith is back to his awful self so I'm not sure how much longer it will be until Kap is the regular starter anyway. Finally, something about the 49er offense to get excited about. I think we've all seen enough of Alex's balls in the dirt and laughable attempts at throwing a deep ball to last a lifetime.

Was that a wildcat formation?
There was a running back behind Kaep on two of those plays, more of a pistol formation.
Did the 9ers run a play with Alex spread out as a receiver? I don't think so.
The wildcat isn't just any formation where a non-traditional quarterback takes a direct snap, you know.

Because throwin the ball into triple coverage with 3 other targets wide open is a sign of being for real. You mention the San Diego game, but leave out it was mostly against backups and he had huge windows on most of his passes. All of which were on rollouts, he was terrible from the pocket. Kinda like Russel Wilson.. you know the preseason QB of the year and future MVP. How is he doing now? CK has a very bright future, but he is nowhere near taking over the starting job yet. He has made strides and maybe next season or the year after but Harbaugh values Smith's decision making and pre snap adjustments and the team has his back. IF any players are asking for more involvement it's because the misdirection worked, not because you are looking at another Cam.

The Big thing is the 49ers did not use a second round on keapernick to be just a wildcat. The man has mad skills and can be everybit of a dominate. QB as he is a wildcat right now when we drafted him. We knew there was certain things he needs to get better at. But we knew he would contribute right away in this compacity I say we have just scratched the surface on keapernick people forget Rodgers sat for 4 years. So I would say just wait and Colin will have all kinds of these stories come his time as a starter.

Alex better step his game up because, those foot steps he hears behind him are Kaepernicks. This dude is for real!!! Youtube him vs the Chargers & look for yourself non believers. A faster Tebow with accuracy on his passing. Quietly this week his teammates have been asking for him to be more involved in the offense
