Has Matt Cassel been to 2 AFC Championship games?
------------------------------------------------------
I love when people ask questions they know the answer two. Just state your case! If you want to play games...

Yes, Matt Cassel has BEEN TO 2 AFC championship games. He was the backup, but he was there - and that's all you asked.

They're very comparable quarterbacks, including that they both went to USC and were drafted by AFC East teams. The only thing working in Sanchez's favor is youth. At this point we know exactly what Cassel is and can never be. No one can be sure about Sanchez, although I'd venture to say that most people are ready to call him a bust. Including me.

Frankly.. from an individual performance standpoint I'd rather have Cassel's career. He's had a couple really solid years. Sanchez has never put up a QB rating over 80. (FWIW.. I'm not huge on QB rating, but it's very telling in this instance)

Has ANY team in the history of professional sports EVER coddled a player the way this team coddles MS?! Don't want Plax because he has lost a step, or is long in the tooth, is a diva or a flat out as#hol* ? That is just fine, however "his presence might hinder MS!?" You have GOT to be kidding!! Sanchez isn't a rookie!! One could easily argue that treating him this way is a significant reason that he has progressed to exactly the level he is at this point. JEEZ!

The problem with Sanchez is not only Kerley, Schilens, Hill (and Santonio) but is also Shonn Green and his 2 yards per carry average.

How would Sanchez look right now with a real number one running back and a stud WR?

We saw how he looked in his first two years. He had Thomas Jones, LT, an offensive line that can open up lanes, and a statistical top 5 defense, not to mention an always superb specials teams unit. And his receiving corp was more than servicable. That gave this QB a cushion to do great things and reach the AFC championship game two times consecutively.

I REALLY feel Sanchez has talent, but the fact that the Jets have done very little to nothing in building a proper team around this guy to help him succeed means they have doomed him to failure. You could have guys like Otto Graham, Sammy Bough, Joe Montana, Dan Marino, and Steve Young quarterbacking this team and the Jets would still having a losing record at the end of the season. It's not all on Sanchez, even though he hasn't played well this year, there's no denying that. His accuracy is atrocious and approaching Tim Tebow's from last year. But I believe that's more mental than physical. Tebow's problem is more physical than mental -- he could do it, but he doesn't have the mechanics down.

Yes Yes Yes. This means "Tebow-Time" is closer than ever. With Santonio out there is no way a traditional pocket passer can succeed with that rag-tag crew of WRs. Their best chance for wins now is bringing in Tebow and all the good karma that comes with him.

Enough bad things can’t happen to the Jets and their ridiculous coach. This teams been spiraling into the gutter since 2010 and their obnoxious boasting of how good they always. Are is just laughable. Yes Revis is a great CB and Holmes is above average WR but that’s what depth is for. The jets built a team without it and now they’re paying the price

great post. i agree, and when is mike tannenbaum going to start getting some criticism? he's the gm and he made signing tebow and his circus the top offseason priority?

Why do I keep hearing Revis is out until the Superbowl? I'm not knocking the Jets, but I really don't think this is a Superbowl team, and I don't think many Jets fans would disagree with me. This team needs to use this season to figure out once and for all what they have in both of those quarterbacks, so they can do what they need to do in the offseason to move forward. The worst thing this team can do is blame a bad season by the QBs on not having Holmes and then go into next season with these same two at the QB position. (Unless one of them starts to drastically improve real soon)
