Texans waive John Beck to add safety depth

The Texans are more willing to go with two quarterbacks than three safeties.

According to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, the Texans have waived quarterback John Beck so they could bring back safety Troy Nolan.

The Texans needed Nolan again after Quintin Demps underwent surgery Monday for a broken forearm. His injury isn’t thought to be so serious as to require being placed on injured reserve.

The Texans have just T.J. Yates behind starter Matt Schaub, but Yates has proven himself capable, frankly, enough so that Beck’s roster spot seems the mystery.

    Rex Grossman wants an explanation.

Yates is not capable. He lost that Ravens game for us last year (with some help from Jacoby Jones). Beck sure looked like the better QB in the preseason and in practice. . . .

Watch Shanny pick him up just to p.o. Grossman.

    Good for a 1-week chuckle.

Ok I think it is safe to say this guy is officially league trash. Another Miami Dolphins second round draft pick blunder.

There must be some mistake. Beck is an excellent QB. Just ask him.

Good thing we still have Case Keenum on the practice squad. Here is hoping we NEVER have to use him.

Post is missing a very important piece of information. So, does Beck qualify to receive the rest of his salary after being cut after Week 1?
