Romo is a compiler. Looks good on paper, but if you broke it all down by the eye, it’s not nearly as impressive as you’d think.

Just like Shareef Abdur-Rahim’s career in the NBA. Numbers mirrored those of some hall of famers, but the guy was the furthest thing from being such — and was not nearly among the elite when he was playing.

Same with Romo, although some of his gaudy statistics that are compiled at times would lead you to believe otherwise if you weren’t (forcefed by FOX, NBC and ESPN) watching regularly.

I can’t stand the self proclaimed Americas Team, but Theismann needs to shut his piehole.
This clown thinks he was the greatest there was at the position. I’ve never heard him say anything positive about any QB.
It’s to bad LT didn’t break his jaw instead of his leg so we didn’t have to hear or read about his worthless remarks.

There are still 12 games, and we will see who is where at the end. By the way where is Drew Brees? We will see how many bubble screens RG3 can throw before the league has him figured out. Really, the best thing for Romo would be to leave the Cowboys and go to a team with a real GM.

I still think that the MNF game was an aberration. I’m a sorry-ass Jets fan (thank God I’m a Crimson Tide fan to balance things out a bit) but I’ve seen Romo carry that offense time and again, and Monday night was “one of those days”– started out great for Romo before everything just went wrong, no matter what he did.

I’m amazed to find myself agreeing with Joe Theismann!

Romo has the physical ability, but he has repeatedly proved he can’t handle the pressure when things go south. In other words, he’s a choke artist.

1. I agree, Theismann IS an idiot. However, an idiot can still be right in his opinion, which is the case here.

First Off, there’s a reason why Theismann is no longer working for ESPN.

Secondly, to Joe Theismann, not every QB has Art Monk and John Riggins and one of the best O-Lines in the 80′s called the Hogs. They also do not have one of the best corners (Daryl Green) and Head coaches of all time either ( Joe Gibbs). AND YOU STILL THROUGH A CLUTCH INT. TO THE RAIDERS THAT MADE YOU LOSE THE SUPERBOWL!!! So back off Romo you frig’n Putz!!

The comments on Romo were about the entirety of his career, genius, not what he did in one game.

Oh, and aside from the league MVP and Super Bowl ring, which Romo never has and never will have, Theismann was also a better holder than Romo, too.

I’m a Redskins fan. Romo has the tools but the mental mistakes. The untimely ints. The lack of focus when it’s crunch times. Real competitors want the ball in their hands. It seems sometimes Romo gets unnerved easily. His athleticism has made him a Qb that show flashes of greatness but to be great one must be consistent. And he is not.

I have been a cowboy fan since 1966. I have been through a lot with my team, even enjoyed the Theismann years while Joe was in Washington. I want another Super Bowl. I firmly believe, as I have since Parcells left, that Romo is not our guy. I was hoping for a trade over the last 4 years for a #1 pick. Trade Tony while people “thought” he was money. Tony sucks under duress. He cannot handle pressure. Instead of taking the sack he shovel passes the ball off hoping it lands somewhere positive. He is no Favre. Favre won Super Bowls. He is mediocre at best and has worn out his welcome. Time to go!!!!

I agree with Joe Theismann that Tony Romo is not that good. Also fitting the same description is San Diego QB Philip Rivers.

A lot of flash, lots of yards, high QB ratings and next to no playoff wins.

Added all together, neither one is that good a quarterback.

Romo is not a bad QB. But, he’s not the kind of guy who is going to put the team on his back and carry it to a title. He’s proven that time and again!

He is, when he is at his best, a fairly capable game-manager. At his worst, he is a guy who will make the bad play with the game on the line that leads to a loss. Usually, he is somewhere in between.

His one exceptional talent is his ability to avoid pressure to extend plays and make accurate throws on the run.

Joe is right. Overall, Romo is not very good. Sometimes, he looks really great, and then, sometimes in the same game or even same series, he looks terrible.
I know I’m not the only one seeing this. Their record of playoff appearances under Romo should help you square this.
Jones is also a terrible, but rich owner. Money can’t buy everything. They DO have a nice house in which to display an average team, though.
