Texans defensive end J.J. Watt may not be headed to Canton just yet, but he has been recognized for an incredible month.
Watt was named AFC defensive player of the month for September, for his work leading the Texans to a 4-0 record.
Watt had 20 tackles, 7.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and batted down five passes, a season’s worth for many.
He’s the first player since Kevin Greene in 1998 to record at least 1.5 sack in each of his team’s first four games.
Teammate Connor Barwin won the award last November, and their presence has helped make the Texans Super Bowl contenders.
