For Pierre-Paul, nothing about football is making him say “wow!” anymore.
“I’m not having that fun I’m used to,” Pierre-Paul said Thursday, via Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News. “I’ve just got to go out there and run around like a little kid. Just be happy that you’re out there and make plays. Have that energy that I had last year. And that’ll go for the other guys too. You could see it their eyes that they’re not having fun with the game. They’ve got to find themselves and I’ve got to find myself.”
Pierre-Paul, who has 1.5 only sacks through four games after notching 16.5 in 2011, could be experiencing the Super Bowl hangover. After climbing to the top of the mountain, it’s not always easy to go back into the valley with everyone else and try to dig out again — especially when the target is larger on the Giants’ backs than it was a year ago.
There’s also a chance that the Giants, who seem to play their best when their backs are pressed against the wall, need the adrenaline that comes from a shrinking margin for error.
Either way, they need to wake up at some point, or I’m going to look like an idiot for picking them to repeat.
Hell, I’ll probably look like an idiot anyway.
