ReutersBroncos quarterback Peyton Manning says the report that he’s trying to buy a piece of the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies isn’t quite right: According to Manning, it’s his wife, Ashley, who is the investor in the group trying to buy the Grizzlies.
In statements released by the Broncos, both Ashley and Peyton said that the wife is investing in basketball while the husband focuses on football.
“I am proud of Ashley as she pursues this opportunity with the Memphis Grizzlies,” Peyton’s statement said. “While my focus is on playing quarterback for the Denver Broncos, I look forward to watching her become involved with her hometown team.”
Ashley indicated that her interest in the Grizzlies is largely about keeping the team in town, with local ownership.
“I am very excited to make the commitment to join the potential new ownership group of the Memphis Grizzlies,” Ashley Manning said. “As a native of Memphis, it was important to me that the Grizzlies remain in Tennessee and continue to have a positive impact on the community.”
There’s no word on how much money the Mannings are investing or what percentage of the Grizzlies they’ll own. But to the extent that either half of the couple is spending time on this project during the football season, it’s going to be Mrs. Manning.

I don’t care which of them it is, that is straight up balling. I would venture a guess that manning has made twice as much money (all things considered) as any other NFL player in history.

When you’re married there is no “he’s buying this, or she’s buying that”. It may be her interest, and it may be money that he brought home, but they are BOTH buying it.
And before you go all “it’s his money”, she is probably raising his kids (twins) 24/7 during football season so stop with the “his money” junk. If my wife is raising my kids, she has every right to any household income regardless of whose name is on the check. She’s earning it too.

Ashley Manning is a very successful real estate agent – high end real estate. She probably has more than enough of her own money to buy into the Grizzlies.

Ashley Manning is not a real estate agent, she’s a real estate developer. Who else is a real estate developer? The owner of the Minnesota Vikings. She most likely has enough money on her own.
