Peyton Manning had a chance at a stake in a Tennessee pro team this offseason, before turning down the Titans.

But now he’s going to get another shot to sit in the owner’s box, as he’s agreed to become a limited partner of a bid to buy the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies, according to a report by Kyle Veazey of the Memphis Commerical Appeal.

The Broncos quarterback and former University of Memphis and NBA star Penny Hardaway are part of the group assembled by Robert Pera in his attempt to buy the Grizzles. According to the report, the group also includes singer/actor Justin Timberlake and others.

It would be interesting to see how big a stake Manning’s in for, or whether this is just a shameless attempt to attach locally famous names, such as Stephen Ross did with the Dolphins in bringing aboard Gloria Estefan, Jennifer Lopez, Venus and Serena Williams and Jimmy Buffett.
