Redskins fans have heard everything under the sun about how Shanahan was going to ruin RG3, RG3 is nothing but a running QB, RG3 is nothing but another Ryan Leaf or Jamarcus Russel blah blah blah….

And just think RG3 performed well above expectations with his left tackle beat up, starting WR in Pierre Garcon out and a less than stellar defense giving up nearly 30 points a game. Barring further injuries RG3 will do nothing but get better as the season progresses. There’s no way you can hate on this guy unless you unless you happen to be that Hurd fellow that attempted to black mail Robert Griffin III

RGIII is dynamic and phenominal on the field. It's so hard to hate on this guy and if you do, it's just out of jealousy and/or ignorance.

Just his interviews ooze maturity; listen to the guy speak....he's honest, candor, and respectful. This kid is WHAT THE NFL NEEDS.

Plus his parents are retired Army SNCO's, that rocks in my book.

If the biggest detractors you have are: 'soft schedule' and 'He's getting hit', grow up.

Firstly- Really? That's all you have?

Secondly-
He can only play the scheduled games and in those games he's led his team to be in position to win each one.

For those who say 'he's getting killed'. Do you watch the games or just post asinine assumptions? Sure the Bengals hit him when the Redskins were playing with a JV line, but beyond being illegally body slammed last week it's not much worse than other QB's. Don't let the sensationalism consume you.

fground says:
Oct 4, 2012 11:46 AM
Ten years ago teams would have tried to limit the use of those skills – like Atlanta did trying to make Mike Vick a traditional pocket passer. I’m pretty sure both Newton and RGIII could do that, but would they be as effective…I don’t think so.
_______

While agree with nearly everything fground says, he just doesn't have this right. First off, both Newton and Griffin appear to better pure passers than Vick, especially during his Atlanta years. And whether or not his talents as a runner were not being taken full advantage of, which, in itself, is debatable, the success Vick did have in Atlanta was partially due to the fact that defense knew he could break off a big run if it was necessary.

Vick was certainly phenomenal in his first year in Philadelphia (though it may have been overhyped a tad by his 70 point curbstomping of the Redskins on national TV), but his abilities as a passer are in many ways a product of the threat he poses with his legs, as are Newton and Griffin's. When defenses are worried about the threat posed by a running quarterback, it unquestionably aids their performance through the air.

In other words; while Griff, Cam, and Vick would all would be very good passers with their feet superglued to the ground; they would not be nearly as effective as they would when defenses also have to account for their speed.

I was a big skeptic of this kid, and I WAS WRONG...he can play, and if he stays healthy he'll be a tremendous starter for years to come. Change has come to Washington after all these years, Hallelujah

Now, can this defense get back on track? Boy if they get just a little better over the next 12 weeks, there's going to be some big meaningful games in December, and even January! There, I said it!!!

The game is very interesting right now because new style and strategies are coming into the game. Cam Newton and RGIII are showing you can leverage other skills beyond a good brain and accurate arm at the QB position.

Ten years ago teams would have tried to limit the use of those skills - like Atlanta did trying to make Mike Vick a traditional pocket passer. I'm pretty sure both Newton and RGIII could do that, but would they be as effective...I don't think so.

I don't know how many more Tom Brady/Peyton Mannings are going to be around 10 years from now. Great arms and minds but no running ability. Heck even Luck who is seen as prototypical pocket passer is also one hell of an athlete who runs a 4.7 40.

The game is very interesting right now because new style and strategies are coming into the game. Cam Newton and RGIII are showing you can leverage other skills beyond a good brain and accurate arm at the QB position.

Ten years ago teams would have tried to limit the use of those skills – like Atlanta did trying to make Mike Vick a traditional pocket passer. I’m pretty sure both Newton and RGIII could do that, but would they be as effective…I don’t think so.

I don’t know how many more Tom Brady/Peyton Mannings are going to be around 10 years from now. Great arms and minds but no running ability. Heck even Luck who is seen as prototypical pocket passer is also one hell of an athlete who runs a 4.7 40.
