I do not condone his actions but it is complete nonsense to claim killing a dog is the same as killing a human. Furthermore, your example assumes that Vick’s new dog is the offspring of one of those he previously owned. Talk about making assumptions. Heres 1 vote to permanently ban frogburger.

I do not share his opinion. But people(including me) treat our dogs as our children. I have kids and dogs. If someone abuses any of them, I will kill them. They are loved the same and treated with the same respect by me. So as far as emotional attachment goes….yes people and dogs are the same. That is what people on hear are really saying. We as dog owners feel that since we love our dogs and have attacted human feelings to our dogs. So in turn we feel they should have the rights of humans. I will never hate someone for loving another.

I am very impressed with the strides Mr.Vick has made as a person. It does not change his past though. I hated him with every being in my body, when I found out what he did. He has been very busy since, rebuilding his image. But his future as a person looks very bright. I really hope he stays on this path. He seems to be a good father. I hope some day he can be role model for young inner city boys. He has a long way still, but as least he seems to be heading in the right direction. His children deserve to love and care for a dog. He lost that right in my eyes. But if he does have one now and the law allows it, then I hope his daughter can show him how to love and respect that dog. I for one,would love to see him on the dog whisperer. That would be the real test if he is ready to be a dog owner again. Cesar could tell and help him be ready.

This is 2012, not the 1950′s. Everybody has rights and the legal system is corrupted. And to suggest someone to be banned because they have an opinion is ridiculous. I would rather hear someones ignorant statements then ban them!!!

He got the dog last year, with the blessing of the ASPCA.

His daughter wanted a dog and he made the request with the consent of the Commish.

It makes me laugh when people say “don’t judge/discriminate” and the like. We judge and discriminate about people every single day of our lives or we couldn’t pick our friends, whom to marry, whom to hire etc. Instead of making spurious arguments, you people who love Vick would do better simply to say “I don’t care what horrible things he’s done (or if you are in real denial, “has been accused of doing”), I love the guy”. At least that is honest.

If he’s met his standards of probation, I don’t have a huge problem with his having a dog. That said, sometimes just because one has the right to do something doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to do. It may be a better lesson for his kids if he tells them why Daddy feels that it’s not a good idea to have a dog. He doesn’t have to get into specifics when they are young, he can just say, “Daddy made some bad decisions in the past and it’s not best to have a dog right now. How about we pick out another pet for you?” It will drive home choices & consequences, a lesson no child above toddler age is too young to learn.
