The Cardinals offense had a rough night in St. Louis on Thursday.

Among the wreckage of the evening was running back Ryan Williams, who left the game with what the team termed a left shoulder injury. Williams got rocked by a fourth quarter hit from Rams safety Darian Stewart after he lowered his head in an effort to gain more yards at the end of a 13-yard run. Williams stayed down on the field for a while after the hit, leading some to believe that he suffered a head injury before the team announced his shoulder was the affected body part.

Losing Williams would put the Cardinals in a rough spot. Beanie Wells has a few more weeks left on injured reserve before he can return to action and LaRod Stephens-Howling has missed the last two games with a hip injury, leaving the Cards with Alfonso Smith, William Powell and Anthony Sherman in the backfield at the end of Thursday night’s loss.

The good news for the Cardinals is that Williams wasn’t overly concerned with his condition after the game. Darren Urban of the team’s website reports that Williams seemed confused about why everyone was so concerned about his condition after the game and said “I’m straight” when asked about how his shoulder was feeling.

We’ll see if further medical evaluation concurs with Williams’ upright read on his status, but it would help the Cardinals rebound if they were able to put a healthy Williams on the field against the Bills next week.
