The Jaguars haven’t officially announced wide receiver Laurent Robinson’s status for Sunday’s game against the Bears, but they sent a pretty good signal that he won’t be on the field after suffering his second concussion in as many weeks.

The team announced that they have signed wide receiver Micheal Spurlock to the roster on Friday. Spurlock was released by the Chargers earlier this week to make room for cornerback Chris Carr. He played in each of the first four games for San Diego, returning one punt as part of a portfolio that was mainly made up of special teams work. That’s been Spurlock’s main value over the course of his career, including three returns for touchdowns as a member of the Buccaneers.

Robinson hasn’t practiced this week and might need a good deal more time to recover before he’s able to return to the field. He suffered another concussion during training camp, leaving him with three in less than three months, a total that has to be concerning to any neurologist charged with returning him to the field of play.

The Jags also promoted defensive end Ryan Davis from the practice squad. Offensive lineman Daniel Baldridge and defensive end Aaron Morgan were waived to make room on the 53-man roster.
