Alex Smith to throw out the first pitch for Giants tonight

Presumably, he’ll be wearing his Giants hat.

After showing his support in a possibly expensive way, 49ers quarterback Alex Smith will throw out the first pitch tonight when the San Francisco Giants open the playoffs tonight against the Cincinnati Reds, according to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee.

Smith was threatened with a $15,000 fine by the NFL for wearing a Giants cap during post-game interviews, and Giants manager Bruce Bochy wore a 49ers hat later to show his support.

The two teams are growing closer and closer, as they both enjoy tremendous success. Giants legend Willie Mays visited the 49ers Wednesday, and signed autographs for coach Jim Harbaugh.

Maybe if the Giants and 49ers continue to win, the football team will let Bochy call the coin toss before a playoff game. And if you’ve ever seen the size hat Bochy wears, you know he’ll call heads.

If cueto can pitch like he did for 3/4 of the year and the reds bats do what they did to Cain earlier, I think smiths first pitch might be the only thing the giants fans will enjoy tonight.

You know why you guys posted this! So, heres what you guys want!

Better have the guy catching fully suited and booted for one in the dirt! Just ask Alexs WRs.
Also have the ball dudes with helmets on, you know how Alex loves to sail those passes out of bounds over his WRs heads.

They’re going to regret not asking Aaron Rodgers.

I’m sure there will be smartass remarks about it being a perfect fit since Alex throws balls in the dirt anyway, but it is nice to see the city fully uniting

Roger Goodell did not approve of this unacceptable act.

Apparently Bochy’s head is so big that in order to show solidarity with the 9ers cap he had to have one specially made. True story.

Frank Gore will be standing about 30 feet from Alex to take the dump off and deliver it to the catcher.

If he misses the Giants catcher, they can always kick the field goal.

  10. favresweiner says: Oct 6, 2012 6:45 PM

He is going to roll to the right and throw it out of bounds. He is the best at that.

In the dirt or over the catcher’s head.

Someone remind him he doesn’t have to drop it off in the flat after holding it for 2 seconds.

  13. schmitty2 says: Oct 6, 2012 7:14 PM

Akers could probably kick the baseball from the warning track and still get it closer to the catcher than Smith could

Alex smith might give the baseball giants bad luck because he is just an okay QB. If the 49ers had got Peyton they might win the super bowl but they won’t because of Alex smith.

Alex Smith & baseball… Two of the most boring things I can think of. ..

I’m not a Niner fan or a Giants fan but…
    That’s pretty damned cool.

Too bad the Raiders and A’s didn’t think of something like that….
Especially since the Raiders play on a baseball diamond.

@musicman…. Awwww it looks like somebody is still smarting from that playoff loss. Chin up buddy there is always this year…ohhhhh sorry. I forgot karma picked up where the 9ers left off with your garbage franchise. Thanks for playing!

Trent dilfer won a Super Bowl and Alex smith is 10 times better then Trent. Yes the defense help win games but Alex through less interceptions then Trent.
