If Russell Wilson struggles on third downs, Matt Flynn could get a shot

The Seahawks aren’t happy with the performance of the team’s offense on third down.  And if the struggles continue on Sunday, it could result in quarterback Russell Wilson getting the hook.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports that, if Wilson continues to have trouble converting third downs, Matt Flynn could get an opportunity.

Coach Pete Carroll has said that Flynn isn’t ready to be the starter because an elbow problem would keep him from taking the first-team reps in practice.  But he could be able to play the role of reliever, if Wilson creates a need for relief.

Please keep Russell in as the starter. I know what Flynn did to my Lions last year.

He’s not gonna struggle. Too much at stake and he usually rises above it. Plus, he’s playing in front of family.

No Flynn today. While Russell looks like a promising QB, he has been awful in the redzone and was again today. His stats are impressive for the game but on 3rd down I thought he scrambled too quicly and too often. Just stand in the pocket and throw it.
