Panthers without three starters for Seahawks game

New Orleans Saints running back Darren Sproles catches a pass against Carolina Panthers middle linebacker Jon Beason during an NFL football game in Charlotte Reuters

The Panthers will be without three starters today against the Seahawks.

Cornerback Chris Gamble, linebacker Jon Beason and right guard Geoff Hangartner will miss the game with injuries.

The Panthers will start Captain Munnerlyn at corner, and Garry Williams at guard, but the linebackers get a more radical makeover.

Rookie Luke Kuechly will start in the middle for Beason, and three-time ACL tearer Thomas Davis will make his first start of the year on the weakside after playing spot duty earlier in the year.

The Panthers have a bye next week, so the hope is that two weeks off will allow Beason time to get better for the back half of the season. Whether he’s right until 2013 after tearing his Achilles last year.

Also inactive for the Panthers were quarterback Jimmy Clausen, return man Joe Adams, safety D.J. Campbell, and defensive end Thomas Keiser.

For the Seahawks, guard John Moffitt is out, along with wide receiver Charly Martin, safety Winston Guy, cornerbacks Danny Gorrer and Jeremy Lane and defensive tackles Jaye Howard and Greg Scruggs.

I think Kuechly in for Beason will actually be an upgrade.
