There were many who thought the Minnesota Vikings would stink this year, including the guy who just typed those words.
This just in: The Vikings definitely do not stink.
They improved to 4-1 with a sound 30-7 thrashing of the Titans.
Defensively, they limited the Titans to 267 yards, and made running back Chris Johnson look like a non-factor with 14 carries for 28 yards. Then again, maybe Johnson’s making Johnson look like a non-factor.
Matt Hasselbeck looks like a guy who left all his functional football in 2011, completing 26-of-43 for 200 yards, with a touchdown after the game was well in hand and a pick.
Offensively, the Vikings were able to withstand Christian Ponder’s first two interceptions of the year, but balanced that with a big day from Percy Harvin (eight catches for 108 yards and a score) and 433 total yards.
Titans running back Javon Ringer left the game on a cart late with a left leg injury, and from the looks of it, it’s hard to expect good news.
The same can be said of the 1-4 Titans season, at least until quarterback Jake Locker comes back and gives them some reason for hope.
