Alshon Jeffery doesn’t think hand injury is serious

Not much went wrong for the Bears in the second half of their 41-3 win over the Jaguars, but they did see wide receiver Alshon Jeffery leave the game with a right hand injury after catching a touchdown from Jay Cutler.

He didn’t return, although it was hard to tell at the time if the Bears were pulling Jeffery because of the injury or because there was no need to risk any further pain in a game that was well under control. It was the injury, as it turns out, and Jeffery will have x-rays done on Monday to determine the severity of the injury. Jeffery wore a wrap on the hand after the game, but showed no concern about a long-term issue.

“I could have kept playing,” Jeffery said, via Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune. “I’m confident it’s not serious.”

With the Bears on a bye week in Week Five, there is plenty of time for Jeffery to heal up before the Bears get back on the field for a game. As long as the x-rays don’t show something to contradict Jeffery’s assessment, we’d expect the Bears offense to be at full strength come Week Seven against the Lions.
