Scam goes out and wins 6 lousy games for them last year and then he is on GQ and consumed with rolling out clothes. You would think they won the super bowl or something. It’s just been over the top with hype and now they are back where they started, with a bad team.

Cam and his old man both need to adhere to the time-proven maxim: Shut up, play Team, and win.

With Cam’s dad becoming increasingly vocal, its obvious his son’s PR team needs to put a cork in the old man’s mouth while cutting back on Cam’s public appearance in ads. Few of the fans in Carolina want to see him pitching all the junk he’s pitching while he’s losing game after game and looking more and more like Vince Young every day.

This “sophmore slump” was easy to call…. not because Cam isn’t a good player, but because his supporting cast is subpar and D-Coordinators had an offseason to prepare. Let us see if Cam can bounce back next year and expand his game.

Who is anyone to say, dobber? How about the guy’s teammates? It won’t be long before his strutting around in the EZ when his team is down 23 points will start to make them scratch their heads. Real true leaders not only talk the talk, but walk the walk. You don’t have to change to act appropriately in given situations.

It’s like a parent who would get in the face of a teacher who dared to give their kid a well earned detention. All that parental permissiveness/every kid is a special snowflake mentality is NOT helping this country. And it’s a complete anathema to being a leader in a TEAM sport.

The show he was on was the drive with taylor and MARC…i listened to the interview…he had some interesting things be said…he said 97% of the accusations from the auburn money deal was found false…he also said that he wasnt allowed in the national champioship game so he and a friend watched it at a hotel bar ans afterwards walked to the stadium…said it took him 35 mins to get there

I think it’s still way to early to label Cam a bust, just like it was way to early to call him the next Steve Young last season.

Speaking of 49ers QBs look at Alex Smith’s last game (even if it was against the 2-3 Bills). There is proof that a player can progress, or at least change dramatically, well after their first couple of seasons in the league.

Not everyone starts off like Big Ben or Joe Montana and wins it all within their first few years. Cam isn’t winning games right now, but it’s foolish to call him bust when he’s not even finished with his second season on a team that had two wins the year before drafting him.

Do people really believe Newton’s or even the Panthers’ problem is they brought into “the hype”? Really is that your assessment? How about something more concrete such as Cam needs to improve his pre snap reads, work on going through his receiving options better, and learn how to utilize his tight end better. Defenses are much more disciplinedwhen it comes to shutting off his running lanes and are forcing him to throw more from the pocket. Isn’t that a much better assessment then “his problem is he believed in the hype”?

As a Skins fan I’m glad RGIII came in believing in his hype and doing what’s needed to prove it’s real. Call it arrogance, confidence, hype, whatever. Every highly rated player comes in the league with it. They may choose different ways to display it but it’s there all the same.

Cam has outstanding athleticism and not much else. Where did the “wants to stay in Carolina” stuff come from? It has to be from private convsations about moving on. It’s way to early for that and I don’t think the Panthers have suggested moving on. Sounds like a potential holdout is coming as soon as he is eligible (or a likely attempt to move to a bigger market). His self-absorbed attitude is over the top and the superman thing needs to go away. If he is upset that the team lost then, OK. I think he is upset at his “brand” degrading more than the team losing. The goal of being an entertainer and icon says a lot about this kid…and it is not good. He needs to learn how to be a professional.

I think this is a veiled threat to the Panthers. The Newtons are blaming the losses on the organization and plan to shop Cam elsewhere if the organization doesn’t make them happy.
