More signs that Tebow time is coming soon

Tim Tebow AP

Are you ready for some Tebow?

Every indication is that the Jets intend to go through with more action for Amercia’s favorite backup quarterback, giving Tim Tebow the role he seems destined to play.

According to Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com, Tebow went through a more extensive than normal warm-up tonight, perhaps an indication he intends to play the bigger role everyone’s been looking for.

“This isn’t just a routine game of catch. [Jets QB coach Matt] Cavanaugh moving to different spots on field to catch Tebow passes,” Cimini tweeted.

This is happening. Man your battle stations. Or at least get your popcorn.

If the Jets suddenly start winning miracle games like the Broncs last year, then the Mayans really are en route.

  2. treesloth16 says: Oct 8, 2012 7:59 PM

Look how far he has to wind up. Anyone know his release time? I think Collinsworth says below a quarter of a second(0.25sec) is elite?

Tebow is a big game player. I am not saying he is a great QB but I am saying he is a big game player.

  5. mancave001 says: Oct 8, 2012 8:03 PM

LOL. This is going to be fun to watch, no matter what happens.

    Well December 21, 2012 is fast approaching…..

  7. carlsbadboltfan says: Oct 8, 2012 8:04 PM

Great! Jets fans must be happy to have another QB start that can’t throw the ball.

  8. thepvyharvin says: Oct 8, 2012 8:04 PM

Yah baby! Bring on the freak show,,,now I’ll watch a game I wouldn’t have ,,,

  9. thesanchizekid says: Oct 8, 2012 8:05 PM

Tebow release is (.35) which is a big difference in terms of (.25) when talking football.

It will make for a more entertaining game than watching Slantchez cower in fear all night.

  12. mgavin78 says: Oct 8, 2012 8:10 PM

Why do ppl care so much about a below average QB.

  13. hor2012 says: Oct 8, 2012 8:12 PM

I don’t think anyone is shocked by this. In fact; I’m really surprised that it took this long.
I really don’t want to talk too much about this. I have just a few observations. Frist, I believe that Tim Tebow will do well as the QB of the jets. The reason I believe that is because the Jets want him to do well. So, he’ll play well enough to allow Ryan to keep his job about two years longer then he should. And, then it will become painfully obvious to everyone that Tim Tebow will never be good enough to win a superbowl

  14. onzlaut says: Oct 8, 2012 8:16 PM

That is great news. Now JJ can add two QBs to his sack list in one game

Here he comes! Timmy Tebow: 47.5 % completions….17 td’s 9 pics….7 fumbles….5.3 yards per carry…12 rushing td’s. RUN!! Timmy! RUN! He has God on his side. Goodnite now Sanchise!

  20. captainwisdom8888 says: Oct 8, 2012 8:23 PM

Perhaps the emergence of Tebow will miraculously bring his fellow teammates to play 200% more effectively than with Sanchez…

  21. crashlion says: Oct 8, 2012 8:24 PM

    Super Bowl, no question.

  22. llfreedman says: Oct 8, 2012 8:33 PM

Honestly does anyone think Sanchez will ever be a franchise quarterback? I doubt it…so why not look for other options?

counter- “but sanchez gives you a better chance to win right now…” – who cares! You’ll be 9-7 max for the next four years and never make it out of the first round.

  23. j0esixpack says: Oct 8, 2012 8:37 PM

It’s destined to be. Clearly this is God’s will.

(I’m pretty sure somewhere in the Old Testament they said God was a football fan.)

  24. bcfalcon says: Oct 8, 2012 8:37 PM

So which quarterback will the jets draft tyler bray, matt barkley, geno smith, or tyler wilson?

  25. nyangl23 says: Oct 8, 2012 8:38 PM

The media makes me dread tebow time coming. I hear more about Tebow than any other player ever and somehow they manage to find ways to talk about him even if he plays for 3 downs more than Tom Brady. I imagine if or when he takes over it will be over the top reporting to a level that makes me shudder.

  26. bennyb82 says: Oct 8, 2012 8:39 PM

I feel like Tebow only works when he has weapons to utilize. The Jets dont have Demarious Thomas or Willis McGahee. They have Shonn and Chaz. Any credibility that Tebow garnered with the Broncos is going to get canceled out by the Jets.

    Ahem…. until he’s NOT.

How many players are there in the NFL? Wow!

  30. lfarrell2012 says: Oct 8, 2012 8:59 PM

As much as the Tebow bashers rag on him it remains to be seen if Payton Manning at this point in his career is an upgrade on Tebow- they both lost to the Patriots. So far Payton is 2-3; Tebow as 7-4 last year…..

  31. commandercornpone says: Oct 8, 2012 8:59 PM

sanchez isnt a great passer himself. and he is no leader. a skirt chaser, yes.

tebow has been werking with the scout team and 2nd stringers. more 2nd stringers playing this week already…

tebow is still a passing work in progress. but he is easily more of a leader than snatchez.

  32. squared80 says: Oct 8, 2012 9:04 PM

I’m amazed that the worst back-up “QB” in NFL history is getting so much attention. Seriously, let it go.

  33. paychrisjohnson28 says: Oct 8, 2012 9:05 PM

Tebow Time !!!! I can’t wait to see Tebow as an NFL starter again !! One word: Playoffs !!!! Woo hoo !

  34. atwatercrushesokoye says: Oct 8, 2012 9:25 PM

My prediction is 8 for 19 57 yards 1 interception, 6 runs for 53 yards and a loss, but his fans will brag about how he’s better than Namath ever was once the game is over.

  35. drewbreeswants says: Oct 8, 2012 10:23 PM

I’ll turn on the game just to watch Tebow.

  36. mlenenski says: Oct 8, 2012 10:30 PM

Tebow has more playoff victories than Matt Ryan….Jacksonville is crazy not to work a trade.

  37. eyeh8goodell says: Oct 8, 2012 10:41 PM

That’s about as exciting as saying its Brady Quinn time in KC. Tebow sucks.

    lfarrell2012:
    Seriously?
Denver’s defense won those games last year. They scored 18 or less in most of those wins. The defense has not played well this year. Are you really comparing tebow to peyton manning? Tebow started a few games for a team that won in spite of him, peyton manning is going to be in the hall of fame. f tebow was better than manning why did elway get rid of him and sign manning? he did it because you have to be able to throw the ball to be a QB. Peyton manning at 50% is better than tebow ever will be as a QB.

  39. dirtdawg54 says: Oct 8, 2012 11:30 PM

Tebow was also seen practicing going insanely exuberant over the most inconsequential outcomes of plays; celebrating a 4 yard run as if he just won a SB.

  40. lvass76 says: Oct 9, 2012 12:20 AM

I saw Mark Sanchez’s completion percentage tonight. Heck, it hasn’t been great his whole career. Cromartie got open and Sanchez just couldn’t make the throw. Tebow can’t do much worse. That being said, the position he’s going to be put in is a shame. Will this young man with a leader’s heart ever get the patience and coaching he deserves? The Jets aren’t going anywhere. Might as well entertain the fans. Good luck Timmy

  41. dobberdubinsky says: Oct 9, 2012 12:52 AM

Where went all his snaps? I’ll tell you where……see, Rex Ryan was positive himself that the Texans were going to clobber the Jets, and Ryan was planning to play Tebow once it happened. Saying it was a part of the game plan to get Tebow more snaps at QB would perhaps control the NY media from blowing a QB controversy out of proportion. Since the game was close, there no need to give Tebow any snaps because Sanchez somehow didn’t manage to lose his job tonight.

Really? Like fill seats? Rally a team? Run for a 1st down instead of running like you have the squirts and need a bathroom? Have a one on one with Jesus? Mark (the dirty) Sanchez is not starting material so what is there to lose?

That’s funny because the Jets seem to have made it out the first round 2 out of the past 3 seasons with Sanchez as the QB. Also if it’s not about giving your team the best chance to win then what is it about? You work with the pieces you have. Don’t play or start Tebow unless you believe doing so improves your chances of winning the game.

Peyton Manning in his last year with the Colts was an upgrade over Tebow. This and not religion is exactly why Tebow got so much hate last year. People who kept obnoxiously believing the guy was so much better than what he actually is. I haven’t ever seen such horrible QB play at the NFL level. The defense of the Broncos kept games close enough for any system QB to win last year. Tebow’s best attribute was he didn’t turn the ball over much and he was a good runner. As a QB he sucked. There’s almost no debating that.

Should have left Tebow in on that series and they just might have won… Just sayin.
