Redskins coach Mike Shanahan didn’t just talk about kickers at his Monday press conference.
As expected, he provided an update on quarterback Robert Griffin III’s status after the rookie suffered a concussion on a hit by Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon on Sunday. Shanahan outlined the steps Griffin needs to take to get on the field -- meeting with the independent neurologist Monday in hopes of being cleared for physical activity -- and said that the quarterback hasn’t been experiencing any symptoms on Monday.
“He’s feeling good. No dizziness, no headaches, no vomiting. He feels like he’s done well on the tests that he’s taken thus far,” Shanahan said. “Hopefully there’s no symptoms that happen over the next couple of days.”
If Griffin passes all his tests, he could be back with the team at practice on Wednesday. That would put him on track to play in Week Six, although it’s definitely a too early to start projecting the likelihood of that happening.
Shanahan also announced that safety Brandon Meriweather will miss another month as a result of the knee injury he re-aggravated in a collision with wide receiver Aldrick Robinson between the Week Four game in Tampa.
