Giants fan prediction: 9-20, 87 yards, 2 ints??!!

Let’s see, the Giants are 23rd in defense. Packers, Lions and Jets are all above them and the Niners scored on them pretty well. So, I’m not sure where the Giants fan gets off with his prediction here.

The Niners have allowed the fewest points in the league up to this point and they’ve played the Packers, Lions, Jets and Bills, all of which have scored a lot of points against other opponents. My prediction is Niners, 31-13.

Alex Smith = Checkdown Charlie
Take your QB rating stat and throw it in the bay, it means nothing.

Victor Cruz is criticized for doing the salsa when he scores, but Vernon Davis can run back to his coach crying like a female?

The 9ers lost to the Vikings, so as "great" as they are, they're not that great.

People who keep sayin' the 49ers got "smashed" by Minnesota clearly didn't watch the game. Minnesota played a very good game and matched the 49ers customary power-ball. But they weren't smashed by any measure. In fact the whole team from the coaches to the players showed all the tell-tale signs of jet leg. Minnesota definitely deserved to win that game and played very well but anybody who has watched the 49ers could see the team simply was listless and flat.

As a Giants fan, I look at this game as pretty much a no-lose situation for the Giants. Most people (fans, pundits, bettors, etc...) EXPECT the Giants to lose, and probably pretty handily. So basically, no pressure on the Giants. Compare that to last week, when they were supposed to trounce the Browns and they were down 14 within 5 minutes? that was Break Out the Maalox time for Giants fans.

When the Giants have no chance, that's usually when they play their best. I expect a very good game, but a 49ers victory would NOT shock me. Go Giants!

rainponcho87 says: Oct 9, 2012 7:56 PM

I think they need both quarterbacks. Their offensive productivity exploded when Kaepernick was thrown into the mix. They often use both QBs in the same play. The defense doesn’t know whether it is an Alex throw, a Kaepernick run, a running back run, or an Kaepernick fake run then throw.
----------------------------------------------------
This is a great comment. I've noticed this too over the last two weeks. They put Kaep in, they have 5-7 people carrying the ball, and they start letting both QBs go deep. This is something no one's seen this 49ers offense do before. It's usually <20yd pass plays and run run run. Now they keep teams guessing and they're blowing games wide open. This was a great calculation made by the coaching staff and it's paying dividends.

Man, if that kid comes in and is a good QB that can throw and run, that team will be scary. A big arm in that offense would blow the lid right off. And that's from a Lions fan!

Everyone's always saying how they don't like Harbaugh. I will admit that he comes off arrogant and annoyed, but that's just part of his genius! He's not a coach that tells the world what their going to do. He keeps everything close tot he vest. You can tell when commentators talk about him that they don't like him very much. A lot of teams talk about how the people in the stadium is the 12th man, but the Niners actually have the 12th man and that's Harbaugh. His players believe in him because he believes in them. Great head coach, bad team spokesman is all it boils down to.

I think they need both quarterbacks. Their offensive productivity exploded when Kaepernick was thrown into the mix. They often use both QBs in the same play. The defense doesn't know whether it is an Alex throw, a Kaepernick run, a running back run, or an Kaepernick fake run then throw.

Considering Alex is leading the team in passer rating at 108.8, and just had a near perfect game, I'd say he has nothing to worry about when it comes to Kaep taking his job. Oh, and did I mention the 49ers are 4-1. Mike, I understand it is your job to create speculation and rumors, but if you have been following Kaep vs. Smith you would know that they are worlds apart when it comes to decision-making. First off, they have the same amount of turnovers and Alex has played 97% of the snaps. Second, on one of Kaeps only passes of the year, he threw the ball into triple coverage. Fortunately, it wasn't intercepted, but it was a poor display of decision-making. Alex doesn't make stupid mistakes like that. He just doesn't, going back to last year he is tied for number one in not turning the ball over with a certain guy by the name of Aaron Rogers. Right now, Kaep is a luxury for the 49ers. He comes in and helps the run game, but he is not ready to be a full time passer or decision maker yet. Some day, he will be, but it may never be for the 49ers considering Alex is still a relatively young guy and only improving.
